Jacob Stenberg's Bio

Born and raised in the Upper Mississippi River valley of Minnesota, I grew up playing on the river and hiking and climbing in the bluffs. I have a passion for exploring wild places both new and familiar. After graduating from college I headed west in search of mountains and wide open spaces. I ended up in Utah and fell in love with its immensely diverse landscape. One can find everything here from mountain prairie to slot canyons to slick rock desert to sand dunes; a life time of exploration all in one state.
I hike, camp, backpack, climb, ski, snowboard, snowshoe and seize any opportunity to try something new. Life's an adventure, get out there and live!

Picked these up for my fiance and she loves them. The stretchy denim is comfortable all day and not restrictive for a skinny jean. The high-rise waist keeps them up where they need to be and they don't ride down. They fit true to Prana's sizing. She is about 5'4" and 115lbs and she found a perfect fit in 0/Reg.

Super lightweight and breathable. Awesome for hot conditions. Regular fit is roomy and allows for airflow. Fabric has a crinkled texture to it that keeps it off your skin and helps prevent that sticky, sweaty feel. Can be dressed up or down, looks nice in casual or fancy situations alike. Fits true to Patagonia's sizing.

Rode these this spring on the groomers and they fly! Super quick on piste and they eat up chop creating a smooth ride. I thought they felt pretty stiff giving them phenomenal edge hold at speed. Relatively lightweight and pretty quick from edge to edge, they were super fun to charge on. I don't think these would be my go to powder ski but they certainly handle variable conditions well. The pair I was on was probably a little too long for me but they were FAST and I had a blast!

This thing is AWESOME! It's a mix between a camp chair and a hammock. Automatically adjusts from an upright position to reclined, then back again just by leaning back or forwards. Set up and take down is a breeze and it packs back into the provided carry case easily. Has a pocket to keep any necessary goodies close at hand and a deep cup holder to hold your beverage of choice. The mesh fabric is extremely breathable, which is great for warm weather. Could get a little chilly during spring/fall camping or if there's a chilly breeze.

Rode these up at Brighton a few days after a storm and they were a blast! Super fun and fast on the groomers, quick at transitioning from edge to edge and had super solid edge hold to keep me confident in my turns. Off piste they performed great in the trees and in tight situations as well as in softer snow when I found a few untouched stashes. They are very lightweight but still stiff and do not chatter at higher speeds. Probably wouldn't be great in super deep powder but felt great for general all mountain resort riding. 10/10 would recommend.

Nice poles. The aluminum alloy feels lightweight but strong and the wrist straps are easily adjustable and will release if needed to help prevent injuries in unexpected falls. Notch grip is comfortable to hold. Great to use all over the mountain.

These are the first ski boots that I've been able to comfortably wear all day without loosening them up during breaks. The 99mm last hugs my narrow, low volume feet nicely. The pivoting tongue creates a wide opening and makes it extremely easy to slip your feet into the boots. As a lighter weight skier, the medium flex tongue works well for me for all mountain skiing but I like having the option to switch it out with a stiffer tongue should I feel it's necessary. I haven't had perfect fitting boots for a few seasons now and I forgot how much fun skiing is when your boots fit and you have complete control over your edges.

The women's version of the Prana's iconic Stretch Zion. These pants are great for everything from casual wear, to hiking/backpacking, to climbing. They have a flattering cut and come in a wide array of sizes (even plus sizes) and inseam lengths. My fiance loves her pair and uses them as her go to adventure pants. They fit true to Prana's sizing. She is about 5'4, 110lbs and found a great fit in size 0/Short.

Got these as a gift for my dad for skiing as well as general cold weather use during the frigid MN winters. He told me these were the nicest gloves he's ever owned. They fit well and the precurved digits allow for better dexterity whether he's snowblowing the drive way, throwing snow balls at the neighborhood kids or gripping ski poles. The big gauntlets keep warmth in and snow out and an included leash keeps them connected to you if you need to remove them on the ski lift.

My fiance has been using these for about a year and a half now for hiking and backpacking and they are performing great for her. The flick lock mechanism makes for easy and convenient adjustments on the go. They are relatively lightweight, have a comfortable grip, and nice strap. That's about all I look for in a trekking pole.

These shoe are super comfy and great for cracks. They are like wearing slippers. But they are super soft and don't have much edging power. Bomber if you're toe jamming, but not too trustworthy if you're doing any steep face climbing. They fit my narrow, low volume feet well. True to La Sportiva's sizing. I seem to always size down a full size from my street shoe in Sportiva.

My fiance's previous hiking boots kept giving her blisters. After trying on a few pairs she settled on these and hasn't had any foot issues since. She uses these for day hiking and backpacking. They are super comfortable for her even with a heavy pack on her back. They are totally waterproof and have kept her feet dry on stream crossings or when hiking through snow. Work well from the desert to high alpine environments and everywhere in between.

I picked up the 4 liter drom for backpacking. Great way to cache extra water for later. I pair mine with MSR's miniworks water filter. The filter screws right onto the opening and makes for super easy filtering. The burly 1000D fabric is extremely durable and will take a beating. I fill mine after we've made camp for the night while backpacking and have plenty of water for washing hands, making dinner/breakfast, and to top off our reservoirs the next day. The 3 in 1 cap allows you to control your water flow preventing unnecessary waste of your most precious resource. When it's empty, It collapses down really small and makes for super easy packing until you need it again. You can also get the hydration kit to turn your drom into a reservoir if you'd like even more diverse functionality.

This was my first pair of aggressive shoes. I was a little nervous about the break in period as I heard it could be a little painful, however these were pretty comfortable right off the bat. They molded to my feet after a few bouldering sessions and now are now my go shoes for sport and bouldering both indoors and out. I've been climbing in them for about a year now and they have held their shape surprisingly well and have not flattened out too much. They perform great both when edging or smearing on slabs or vertical routes and on steeper overhanging rock. I've been able to trust my feet more and have definitely started climbing better. They fit true to La Sportiva's sizing. I've had three pairs of Sportiva's with completely different profiles and I always find a perfect fit by sizing down a full size from my street shoe.

These belts are amazing. They move with you and are completely nonrestrictive, you'll forget you're even wearing a belt. Great for any active pursuit. Fit seamlessly under any waist belt harness weather you're climbing or wearing a backpack. I picked this one up as a gift but I also have one myself. No metal parts make these great for traveling through airports. One size fits all up to 40 inches.

My fiance uses this bra during her yoga practice. She says it's comfortable, supportive, and non-restrictive. I'm sure it will end up on our other outdoor pursuits this summer as well when she's hiking, camping or climbing. She says it's true to size compared to other brands she's used.

An essential piece for spring time. I picked this up for my fiance as she was in desperate need of a new rain jacket. I also just picked up a new one for myself in the men's version. I'm on my second Torrentshell after the first one served me well for years. This jacekt fits her great and the features are well thought out. Pit zips allow ventilation in warmer temps, adjustable hood keeps it snug on your head and prevents it blocking your vision, and micro-fleece lining in neck allows for soft comfort against your neck and chin. The regular fit allows for easy layering in cooler temps, but the cut is flattering and not boxy. Fits true to Patagonia's sizing. My fiance is 5'4" and about 110 lbs and she found a perfect fit in the size small.

I had the pullover version of this jacekt for about 5 years and it performed exceptionally. I put it through the wringer during a couple years of guiding and it kept me dry the whole time despite becoming filthy. Great jacket for backpacking, climbing and everyday wear. The pit zips are an awesome feature that I didn't have on the pullover, The regular fit is great for layering a fleece underneath in the cool spring temps. The hood can be cinched up to fit your head like a hat that will move with you when you're looking around and not impede your vision. Not as windproof as other shells but it does help block cool breezes a little bit. All around a great jacket, I'm stoked to put my new one through the wringer too!

Picked one of these up for my fiance and she loves wearing it for yoga and other active pursuits. She told me it's super soft, comfortable and supportive but doesn't restrict her in the slightest during her practice. Will probably be getting some more for her in the future. Fits true to size compared to other brands she's used.

Picked one up for my fiance and she loves it! It's a good weight, will be perfect for cool spring temps but not too warm. The cut is flattering and the material is super soft. Great casual piece that will compliment any pants or shorts. Fits true to Patagonia's sizing. My fiance is about 5'4" 110 lbs and she fits perfectly into a size 2.
