Great product
5 5

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought this little guy about two years ago. When I purchased it I was under the impression that it was the larger version that fits on the bottom of a Nalgene (the capacity/size was nowhere to be found), I was wrong. At first I was disappointed but very quickly grew to love it. I have used it on several field ops in the desert and on a few camping trips. It's super sturdy and super lightweight, where ever coffee goes this goes with.

Familiarity: I've used it several times
Fit: True to size
Height: 5' 10"
Weight: 190 lbs
Size Purchased: Medium

I have purchased many "waterproof" and/or water resistant rain jackets in the past...save your money and make the investment with GoreTex. I do not see this jacket being replaced for several years. I've had it for about 8 months now and worn it in the snow, sleet, hail, rain and just days when it is good to have a wind-breaker. My only issues that I have with the jacket are that the hood is HUGE (meant to go over a helmet I'm assuming?). Even after tightening the elastic bands on the inside, the hood would not stay on unless the jacket was zipped all the way up. The jacket is also fairly snug around the waist even without layers on, however I blame this primarily on my build. I have used this jacket fishing and kayaking as well, one problem I ran into was my fly line getting snagged or stuck on the wrist straps as they face inward. On another note, I purchased this with the Marmot Ama Dablam insulated jacket and the pair work great with each other without sizing up on the Spire. (with the exception of the spire being snug around the bottom)

I'm 5'10" 190lbs and a medium fit snug, that's personally how I like things to fit I have a bit of a gut though so we'll just say that it's true to its size in my opinion. Great jacket, fits nicely under the Marmot Spire Gore-Tex jacket as well if you're looking for a water-proof shell. Sorry for the people who have had bad experiences with it but if you're buying a down jacket expecting it to be wind and waterproof you should do a little more asking around.

It was a toss up between this and the heavier down marmot jacket and I'm happy with my decision. This is as much down as you need unless you plan on climbing the North Face. I only gave it 4/5 stars because I have not owned this jacket for very long.

Myself and many of my friends use this product in the field. The Sol Titanium is a great piece of gear to have; it's durable, light-weight and fuel efficient as well (I used it for coffee or ramen 3-4 times a day for an entire week and used less than one 3.5oz cannister). I would give it 4.5 stars only because of the fact that there are only two temp settings: Boiling and Off. The spout on the lid is only for sipping so expect a mess the first few times you try pouring your coffee into a cup (the trick is to pour quickly). Otherwise it's awesome.
