Grant Kates's Bio

I was raised in Rochester, NY and moved to Salt Lake City, UT when I was 21. I love to be outdoors - whatever that entails. From backcountry skiing to rock climbing and camping. Any excuse to get out there and be active. I enjoy learning new things and activities - my main pursuit is photography.

Fit: True to size
Height: 5' 10"
Weight: 150 lbs
Size Purchased: medium

This softshell jacket is everything i was looking for in a backcountry touring softshell. Here in UT we have some dry snow so a GTX shell is not really necessary. I find that I run hot. Seriously, i sweat a lot! This jacket really helps me regulate my temp while on the skin track. Less sweat + less evaporation = warmer.

Best Strap Around
5 5

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Burly, sleek, comfortable.

These are made with seatbelt webbing so they are rated to go the distance. There is silicone on one side of the strap to add some security if you are on the go. With the Anchor clips, you are ready to go strapless in just seconds.

This is excellent if you find that you are shooting with a tripod and want to remove the strap for vibration / camera shake reasons. The adjustment sliders make sure that you have a comfortable carry no matter where you are.

*My all time favorite item that PD makes are the micro anchors. They open the door to amazing, quick and easy to use accessories. They are also rated to 200 lb. Much more than you would ever need, which is the Peak Design way.

Do you spend too much time fiddling with your camera strap? If you tend to shoot off a tripod but also do a lot of action sports. You probably can agree that you are in fact spending that wasted time with your strap.

These little do dads will alleviate that pain point. You will be able to accessorize your camera with many different straps (or keep your exisiting one)

Excellent if you have an existing camera strap you just cannot do without. Adding the micro anchors will bring your camera body to the next level and you can keep your customized strap.

This item is awesome. It is nice to be able to connect the wrist strap to the camera body before even moving anything out of your pack. if you are on the go whether it be in the city or in the mountains - this strap adds extra security. Preventing those "oopsie" moments while handling my camera gear is always at the forefront of my mind. You spend X amount of dollars on your kit, you want to make sure you keep it nice and safe.

It is easily secured to your wrist via magnet so that you can keep it there as a low profile camera accessory. Easy and quick to use.

I previously had been using the Sequence pack. I only run with one pro body at this time so I just did not need the extra space it provided. The Mission pack is perfect. I have in it my Canon 70d, 70-200mm f/4, 10-20mm f/3/5, 14mm f/2.8, 40mm f/2.8, Speedlite Flash, Rocket Air, Lens Pens, SD cards, Extra Batteries, Filters, and Tripod.

I love that it comes with a rain cover for when precip strikes fast.

My dog loves to play fetch on the water. But sometimes she doesnt know when enough is enough and it is break time. This jacket makes it possible for her to get after it as efficiently as possible. And on the throws where she is tired, i have peace of mind that she will make it without any worries.

I got the 0.6 L thinking it would be a little bigger than they are. At that size you can put some energy gels and some instant coffee... that is about it. If you are trying to organize some bigger items, i would either look for a different stuff sack or get the largest size possible and just know that they are pretty tiny to begin with.
