Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

The arms are too long in the large but shoulders too tight in medium, so I sent both back. Also, the red is rather orangy, instead of a bright red, and feathers show as dark spots through the material. Otherwise, jacket is well-made and probably quite warm

The R4 is billed as ultra-warm, but that layer sandwiched in between, that makes it wind-proof, also makes this jacket feel stiff to me and limits mobility. No way is it as warm as down. I prefer the R3, which is incredibly soft, stretchy, and cozy, alone on some days, and under Patagonia's down sweater or Nanopuff on colder days. I also have somewhat wide shoulders and found this jacket too tight in the shoulders, yet too long in the arms. Both the R3 and a puffy (down or Nanopuff) have enough give and stretch in them to work. It is, however, a very nice-looking jacket, and I can understand how, if it fits your physique, you might like it as a more all-in-one option. I sent it back but love my R3, down sweater, and Nanopuff.
