Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I've had these boots for about a year and a half, and they are my go-to boot in winter and early spring conditions. The amount of insulation is fine for my needs (I probably have moderate tolerance in cold conditions)--my feet do get cold when they're not moving, but it's not unbearable. Often times in wet conditions, I have the driest feet amongst my group unless snow or water actually gets into the boot from the top. That being said, the built-in gaiter is helpful. If you have thick calves/ankles, you may have trouble getting the gaiter closed, but these seem to have stretched with time. Also, the front of the gaiter used to push into the front of my ankles when bent--pretty painful--but this doesn't happen anymore.
Scarpas fit me well across the board. I wear a womens 5 in sandals and dress shoes, and 37.5 is my Scarpa mountaineering boot size. I predict these will last me at least a few more years, after which I would definitely get another pair of Mont Blancs.
