Familiarity: I've used it several times

I mounted them up on my Spark Ultimate since it came with an "ok" set of DT Swiss alloy wheels. I tried to like the DT's but just didn't have a performance mentality.
I read about the new X1's on bikerumor and thought they would be interesting to try them out, if nothing less they look different.
First thing I noticed when I received them was the silver stripe and the offset spoke drilling. I read their marketing and didn't buy into it 100%, but the wheels matched what they were touting where the ride quality and performance were balanced to perfection. The hub is nicely machined and has a super quick engagement, but doesn't have too loud of a clikety.
On the way home form my inaugural ride, I cut through campus where there are some flights of stairs. Yep, I pulled a Danny McCaskill and rode down them with low air pressure (not brave enough to ride without a tire, plus I am not sponsored). I bottomed out a few times and didn't notice a scratch on the actual rim.
I have ridden them a few other times where I can tell I am climbing better and able to ascend a few technical sections I am usually not able to nail.
Now that the weather is nicer where I ride, I will be able to put more miles in.
