I got this jacket last year because NorthFace really didn't have a parka length warm jacket with a removable hood. This jacket has exceeded all my expectations. It's build great looks good, and it's WARM as **** In fact it's so warm I had to sometimes take it off in the car because it was too warm ! If you want a feature rich jacket built great that you could probably stand outside on the North Pole in and not get cold wearing this baby is for you!

I've owned North Face parkas and other products of their's for years. I ordered the McHaven because I needed a longer more parka like jacket, that also has a detachable hood. I have a North Face Nutpse that I like but for some reason NF decided to not give it any inside pockets!

Anyway I decided that the McHaven was pretty much exactly what I needed. So here's what I liked: Fit, finish and material quality are excellent, typical NF quality, although the camo pattern along the zipper is kind of pointless and distracting from the classic look. Fit was pretty much spot on, not to tight not to big.

Here's what I didn't like and which ultimately had me return it for another jacket. First off there's only one small inside pocket. On a jacket like this it really ought to have at least two inside pockets with one being a Napoleon Style for a wallet. The other thing is this is a relativity long jacket, long enough to cover a suit jacket. Well it really needs a split zipper, I can't imagine why NF would leave that out but it's really needed. As an example when one drives a car with this coat on it really bunches up.. needs a spilt zipper. Also the hood was weird it has a wire in it but no adjustment to be able to pull it back to make it shorter front to back so it was kinda of covering my face and no way to adjust that. And lastly the top front pockets have the zippers to the outside which makes using them a bit less convenient , NF should have placed the zippers to the inside towards the main zipper , would have made the pockets much more usable.

So that's my review, it's a nice parka that could be almost perfect but misses the mark for some really simple stuff. Oh and the jacket I needed up with.. Mountain Hardware Chillwave.. really nice, well thought out, and warm!
