Breaking in these hiking boots for a backpacking trip in Argentina, I hike on a trail with a hilly (and muddy) terrain, covering 10 miles. With snug lacing around and above the ankle joints, I am very satisfied how the boots provide great ankle stability. Getting a half-size bigger ensures enough space for toes to wiggle comfortably and to not hit the toe box during downhill hiking. Compared with a previous and a different pair I wore to Kilimanjaro and Mt. Everest Base Camp, these current pair are a lot lighter. In fact, this is the first thing I noticed about these boots - they felt almost weightless. I feel I can make longer strides without any strain on my lower back. Also, my feet kept dry even when walking on muddy surfaces and shallow waters. I keep waiting to feel some hot spots while hiking and, so far, there is none.

And by the way, thanks, Backcountry, for the great customer service!
