Excellent Helmet
5 5

Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have taken this helmet on a number of adventures, including trad climbing and mountaineering. I've used it in both hot and cold weather. I am very pleased with its breathability and low weight. It fits me very well both with and without a beanie on. The adjuster on the back is simple to use and can be used with thin to medium weight gloves on. Overall, this helmet does everything I need it to and is a great option for the price.

Familiarity: I've used it several times
Fit: Runs small
Height: 5' 9"
Weight: 165 lbs
Size Purchased: Medium

I received this jacket as a gift, and overall I am mostly pleased with its performance. I really like the material it is made out of, it is very breathable and light. I've taken it climbing a few times and it does a good job of keeping the wind out and keeping me slightly warmer than just wearing a shirt.
However, the fit of it is pretty different compared to similar jackets from other brands. I am a solid medium across the board for jackets, but the echo fitted snug to my body and was a tad short for my liking. The tightest region was in the arms. There is a bit of stretch to the material, but when I bent my arms it would constrict around my elbows to the point of being uncomfortable. I have pretty normal sized arms and have never stumbled into this problem before, so this observation was new to me. I was surprised that a jacket aiming for climbers would be so tight in that area. This was the first Mountain Equipment product I've used, and I would definitely consider sizing up if you want complete range of motion, especially while climbing. If that is taken into consideration, it is a great piece to add to the quiver.

Great Harness at a Great Price
5 5

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I purchased the Togir about a year and a half ago, and I have used it for almost every discipline of climbing that requires a harness. I've used it in the gym, Ice routes in NH, sport climbing in the Red, trad in Acadia, and even mountaineering in the Cascades. I've been using it about four days a week in the gym since purchasing, and it has shown very little signs of wear. The comfort is on par with harnesses of similar caliber, and the fit keeps me feeling secure. One thing that I like a lot are the hard plastic gear loops. I hate fiddling with flimsy loops trying to get draws or other carabiners on/off, but the rigid loops on the Togir make organizing gear super easy. Another added benefit are the ice axe loops on either side, increasing its versatility. Overall, the Togir offers a lot for a very affordable price.

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Fit: True to size

I've owned these shorts for about 5 months now, and have enjoyed using them. I bought a size 32 in the Dark Denim color and they fit me very comfortably. The only gripe I have with them is that the color faded within 2 to 3 months of use (around 2 times a week). I would have expected the color to last much longer on a decently-priced pair of board shorts such as these.

Great chalk for the price, I've always found Metolius to be the cheapest chalk online, which really helps a broke college student such as I. This chalk performs just as well as any other chalk I've used in the past (Petzl, Black Diamond). Being able to buy in larger quantities helps a lot as I climb pretty often (5-6 days a week).

I bought the helix as my first pair of climbing shoes, and so far they have been great. I have used them on average around 5 days a week every week for 2 months now. I have access to a great indoor gym, and that is all that I have used them for so far, but I have plans to take them outdoors at some point. The edge of the toe has worn down a little bit, making it more rounded and a bit scraggly, but it still holds just as well as when I first got them. The laces allow me to tighten or loosen wherever I need on my foot, allowing me to dial in how tight I want them. However, they have stretched a bit throughout the season to the point where I can wiggle my toes a little bit in them, but they still are touching the ends of my toes. I would highly recommend these shoes to anyone who wants to get into climbing as they are very comfortable; I wear these for 3-4 hours at a time without having to take them off.

I bought this cage mainly due to how light it was. I was very curious to see how durable it was, and it has completely blown my expectations away. I have been using on my XC bike for about 2 years, and it has performed flawlessly, never having a bottle slip out. It may seem flimsy without a bottle in it as it can be bent quite easily with one's hand, but when it has a bottle in it it never lets go. I am planning on buying more.

This was my first internal frame pack I bought, being the larger multi day pack used when my smaller frameless pack was not enough. The first real trip I took this on was the Pemi Loop in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. It was a 3 day trip going over 8 mountains with about 9000' of total elevation gain. The pack ate it all up and was extremely comfortable the entire trip. My favorite part of the pack was the VariQuick strap adjustment system, as it was very easy to find the right riding height and lock it in for as long as needed. Another reason why I chose this pack was because of the large amount of back airflow, as I get very hot on my back regardless of the conditions or difficulty of the hike. The Aircontact ACT Lite System worked perfectly and kept my back very comfortable. Since the Pemi Loop, I have taken this pack on many multi day trips all over the North East and it has been a breeze to use. I have used Deuter packs for years and there's a reason why I always come back to them.

Size Purchased: Large

Ever since I bought my first pair of defeet socks about 3 years ago, I have noticed myself getting more and more of them simply because they are so good. I run about a size 10.5 US and the larges fit me perfectly. I use them as my daily running socks and for mountain biking. I love the many different patterns offered, especially this one. They also take up very little room in a pack for hiking trips as well. All I can say is that these are some of the best socks out there, you'll never be disappointed with them.
