Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought this pack mid-season 2016/17. There was so much powder. This bag is light, has all the places, pockets, and stashes for all day back country or just heading into the trees on a powder hunt. I have a bladder, I pack a hot choclate, puffy down, extra beanie, shovel, poles, and don’t really feel the weight. I would highly recommend it.

Not as good as I had hoped.

I bought two pair of these when they were on sale. The concept sounded awesome and the description made me want them. I returned one pair in the first week of having them. With just normal around the town wear the sole of the shoe started peeling off. I figured it was just an anomaly. Well, with some actual use, the sole of the second pair has begun to separate (i.e., see picture). While I have worn them just about everyday since purchasing, to work, hiking, scrambling, and such, their doesn’t seem to be any ware, just the sole seperating at a flex point (e.g., outside arch). I haven’t decided if I am going to try to return these yet. They are also hot. I always have sweat spots on my socks. As a result, they also smell bad. It doesn’t help that one shoe went in to a stream and has never recovered smell wise. They are super comfortable and fit like a glove. The lacing system is awesome and they stick to just about any rock. I had no trouble with them in the snow or ice. If they didn’t smell and fall apart, they would be awesome shoes.

I got this as a layer, under my shell, but it has become my all around. It provides a lot of warmth with a base and a shell. I wear it snow shoeing, snowboarding, and on winter back backing/mountaineering. It's also great just for a light jacket. The hood fits around a helmet and seals under my chin and around my head over a baseball hat. Doesn't block wind, repel water, and is too warm if your working hard in higher temperatures, but that's not what I got it for. Love it.

So far, fall back packing in the rain, snow shoeing in blizzards, snowboarding, and waiting for the bus in below zero; this jacket is all around champ. It's water proof, snow proof, ice proof, wind proof, and probably bullet proof (not tested personally). Not super breathable, but the poncho thing lets you vent to a point that it doesn't matter. My biggest problem is forgetting to zip back up at the top of the mountain and getting snow in on the way down. Super versatile. Lets me layer if I want, but fits pretty well without. I would give it four stars rather than five, but it is just so versatile.
