Great material, great pattern, but absolutely the worst fit of any OR shirt or jacket I own. I would return it if I could. Will still buy OR items, but never this shirt again. Size large is apparently designed for someone 5'8" and 210 lbs based on the dimensions. Cheers!

Fit: Runs small
Height: 6' 3"
Weight: 187 lbs
Size Purchased: XL

Stout jacket. The material seems balanced between durability and weight. Clean seams (still made in asia). I had to get an XL as the large was too tight in the shoulders (41.5 inch chest). I can fit a flannel shirt and lightweight puffy underneath w/o restricting movement. Body is not slim but not "American" either. Areas of improvement: Make a two-tone version similar to the special edition w/o the extra leather accents. Those are pretty much useless and made the jacket look like a yuppie item. Add a second panel to the exterior upper arm portion. This an area of wear and could use some reinforcement. It would also facilitate better waxing. Additionally, a third snap button on the cuff could be nice. This jacket will last years I hope. Planning on winter around town use and day-long outdoor activities.

Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This pad is pretty decent. It's in the midrange for size, thickness, cost, and landing. The wrap method of closure does have it benefits although some may not like it. I have found it to be easy to use. I would have liked to see a strap to hold up the back portion so you can use the pad as a camp couch. There may be another brand that provides this on their pads. I have a hard time giving anything 5 starts (Alien Cams would warrant 5 stars) so this is a pretty good rating considering the source.

What can I say about this jacket? Decent sizing, decent material, proven use (K. Dempster on Mt. Edgar)...one problem...650 fill. I would argue this would be the best down puffy on the market if OR used 800+ fill. It really has everything otherwise. If you are going to rely on down for insulation, you are assuming certain vulnerabilities. Amidst those vulnerabilities, you should maximize the insulation value for the weight you are carrying. That is accomplished with using 800+ fill. This one is so close.............. If you are going to use anything less than 800+ fill for technical applications, you may as well go with a high end synthetic.
