Devin Peterson's Bio

I grew up relatively separated from the outdoors in a suburb environment. My family was your standard sit at home and watch TV everyday, family. I remember going out with boy scouts and loving every moment I spent outdoors. The times I had in the backcountry wilds were seldom, but life changing.
When I was 19 I recovered from back surgery and decided to celebrate my life given back by getting out as much as possible. I wouldn't let excuses or fear hold me back of following and creating new passions.

I began summiting different nearby peaks every week and from there explored expedition backpacking, snowshoeing, climbing, skiing and found my greatest passion; whitewater kayaking.
Since then my life has been full and enriched I don't live a life of wealth but rather a life of experiences.

This fits in seamlessly with your garmin connect account. The set up really isn't tricky at all as long as you're within the wifi area of where you'll be setting it up.
Everytime you step on the scale it will log your weight and record it automatically into your account. This makes it very easy to habitually use the scale and track in detail your work and other specs over times. Body fat Percentage with any of these scales is hit or miss but everything else is pretty accurate.

I love this jersey, it looks super cool, fits really well but most importantly it's protection against the weather.
I've used this in temperatures below freezing and really feel like it took the bite out of the cold. As it's been getting warmer it still works great. I haven't needed to yet but as I approach summer I'm sure I'll be using the vents on the arms and chest.
The 4 pockets on the back are great for storing things out of the way without impeding mobility.

At first impression with these gloves, I wasn't too impressed, they seemed very thin and even though they were the correct length for my fingers the material seemed to fit loose especially around the cuffs. The best thing I did was put them on before I put on my long sleeve jersey which keeps them seamlessly tucked in under my sleeves. I've used these in cold temperatures below freezing and didn't feel any discomfort from the cold and wind. Even in warmer temperatures the breath well enough your hands don't overheat. The grip on the palm works fine for holding your bike and the fingers respond well with touch screen devices.

I got these near the end of winter with he intention of cold weather riding and they do great!
They've still been awesome as it's been getting much warmer. They really are super breathable and comfortable. No complaints about the chamois pad. It's definitely saved my butt after some long rides.

I got these bluetooth earphones because I loved how minimalistic they were compared to a lot of alternatives. The battery really does last about 9 hours, they really do stay in your ears and they really are resistant to water. So get out there and run in the rain!
Sound quality is great as well as the bass.
I really like this design that notches itself within your ear using the ears natural grooves. It was a little weird to put on at first but I soon learned that if you give it a half twist as you're putting it on it's much easier.

If you PFD has a square or diamond shaped slot, it means it's compatible with this knife and sheath. The holster allows it to attach securely to your pfd, with a squeeze grip that allows you to easily remove it from it's sheath and use it in that rare emergency situation you might need it.
The stainless steel is really resistant to rust and considering how little you'll use it to actually cut things, this knife will stay sharp for years.

These straps are really durable. I use them to transport up to four kayaks on the roof of my car even driving out of state.
With the way it's set up part of the kayaks actually hang out over the side of the vehicle so most of the load is strictly supported by these straps. Once the buckles bite don they don't slip at all.

Pros: I was encouraged to buy these pants because I’ve used the Armada Balfour Gore-Tex Pro 3L jacket for three years now. I ski 60 plus days a year and the jacket has been bombproof, it’s honestly one of the best jackets I’ve ever owned.

I’m here to say the 3L Pant is no different. Although expensive, the Gore-Tex Pro 3L is worth every penny. I wasn’t 100% sold on the bibs but their fantastic on deep pow days. In the spring I can zip-off the bib for perfect climate control. I normally thrash my ski pants with accidental edge
contact but the reinforced cuffs have shown no wear.

Cons: My only complaint is the thigh pocket orientation without a wallet pocket.

I got these for my sister and this is what she had to say
"Size ordered: XS. 5'3" 105 #s. These fit nicely and despite the reviews that say they fit small, especially in the thighs, I dont have bulky/fat legs and they fit quite nicely. They are warm, fit nicely over my boots, and the kangaroo pouch is large enough to fit all kinds of things...even a few beers. It seems as if the ski bib is back in style with a vengeance and these definitely are something to wear to shred on the slopes and also while throwing back a few during apres for a cute mountain girl look. The first day I wore them on the ski hill, I also decided to continue to wear them to do a few errands: to the grocery store and to Target...they were THAT comfy and stylish, I didn't give it a second thought. "
I'm really happy that she loves them!

These pants are awesome. Gore-tex paclite is so incredibly durable for how lightweight and breathable it is. I usually wear this in combination with the ALPHA SL jacket for a wide variety of things. Snowshoeing, Skiing, Trail Running in adverse weather and wind, hiking and camping.
Both the pants and jacket are perfect to bring with you in your pack on any outdoor excursion in case the weather goes south, they're so pack able and lightweight you barely notice them.
I recently did a 150 mile bike ride and had these in my pack and sure enough when it started raining I was able to pop them on quickly and avoid being drenched.
One last great thing about these pants is that the can be completely put-on and removed due to the side zips.
One last, last thing is for me to comment on durability. I often wear these bushwhacking in the back country with my snowshoes as well as along river banks when I'm scouting rapids I'm about to run with my kayak. I've probably put them through more abuse than they deserve but after a year there are still no holes or other signs of wear and tear.

Are you convinced yet?

These shoes are epic. They're the best shoes I've had in years. I've used them in place of heavy boots with my snowshoes, trail running in snow, mud, dirt sand and even pavement. As well as scouting river banks and bushwhacking to help fuel my whitewater addiction.
These are the ultimate, lightweight all-terrain shoe. I love the gaiters. They always keeps my feet dry. The shoes don't have enough insulation to keep your feet really warm if you aren't actively moving around but when you are it doesn't matter the conditions. They breathe very well considering the waterproof membrane.
The size chart I used to help me find my EU size was:
http://www.candefashions.com/about/shoe-size-conversion-chart/
I'm size 10-10.5 and ended up picking an EU 44. Works perfect for me.

It's important to know that the Vidda Pro pants and Trousers we have listed are the same. The difference is these pants are a longer inseam and the trousers are regular fit.
If you're 6' and under you'd probable want to go with the trousers.

Phenomenal Pants!

Mike was having some technical issues with posting his review so I'm posting for him!
"I would give these pants 4.5 stars!
I usually wear 32, sometimes 33. Purchased size 33-34 (50). They fit slightly loose, but not a deal breaker. I fear that 32 would be too small. They are a little baggier at the hips and in the back than I would like, but also not a deal breaker. I am 5'11", and the length of these pants is perfect.
I ordered Dark Olive/Black, hoping that they would look green/black as it appears on my monitor. But, they are actually brown/black (as an actual olive). I was a little disappointed at first, but now I actually really dig it.
Pants are truly built like a tank. Very durable! Lots of roomy pockets. Lots of features. I like the hidden hooks at the bottom of the pants that hook to the shoe laces like gaiters to keep mud out of your boots. That's a very cool feature. Also, it has a long pocket that can open up in the bottom. You can either carry a folding saw, or unsnap the flap in the bottom and carry an axe.
I suggest you purchase Fjallraven Greenland Wax when you get the pants. It will give you additional waterproofing.
Also, call Devin Peterson (Gearhead). I found his review on this page. These pants are not cheap, and I was hesitant to drop so much money on a pair of pants.
I called him, and he was extremely helpful. He answered all my questions, and it sealed the deal for me. And no, he did not ask me to write this. Thanks Devin.

Mike Y."

I wouldn't change anything about it

I got this helmet as a birthday gift for my sister who's started getting more and more into whitewater. She was super happy with it. This is what she had to say.

"Not only is this a good looking helmet, it really hugs the contours of my head. The adjustment system really helps you get a good fit without any weird or uncomfortable pressure points. It feels snug yet very comfortable! The thing I love most about this helmet is the sun brim. It's nice not always having to wear sunglasses on the river and it keeps my nose and eyes pretty well shaded. However, if I do wear shades they fit nicely unlike other helmets I've owned in the past. Another thing I love is that when it gets wet or you're under water you don't come up dripping out of your helmet. Seems like every time I take it off it's dry. The material on the inside is great! To be completely honest, I wouldn't change anything about it. "

Here's what my customer said
5 5

Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

"Boots are great. God them half size above my street shoe and that seems to be optimal for both circulation and close fit. They are more agile on rock than one would expect and extremely warm. Unzipping the Gaiters almost all the way and lacing them loosely makes them fairly comfortable for approaches and walking and more level terrain. Excellent fit for my petzl crampons too. I wish I would have had more chance to use them this winter. They did fine on a mixed snow climb up little bear, a rather "thoughtful" class IV climb among the Colorado 14ers...the conditions were fairly marginal for safe climbing yet the boots handled like a champ while my ice axe was struggliing to find some purchase in some very sugary snow on a slope that didn't allow for any margin of error."
He was so stoked on these shoe he sent me that review!

I let my my little brother pick out a pair of shoes for me to get him for his birthday. This is the feedback he gave:
"These shoes are really great climbing shoes for anyone new to climbing. They're cheaper than most and have good durability so they'll last. The size I picked out was perfectly accurate with the conversion chart. Also the velcro makes taking them on and off easy!"

Great gift with good feedback!

Fit: Runs small

I let my sister pick out a pair of shoes for me to get her for her birthday and this is the feedback she gave me:
"These are the first climbing shoes I've ever owned. I had heard they ran small, so I chose to get a size up. When I first saw them, I was sure that they would be too small. They were slightly uncomfortable on my toes at first, but after a couple wears they felt much better.
I don't know a whole ton about climbing shoes, but overall I'm really happy with these and will probably use them for quite a while. The only thing I don't totally love about them are the laces. It's a little annoying having to tie them up rather than slip them on like most climbing shoes. The laces stay tight and I've never had them come untied while climbing, so it's not a big deal to me. Just takes a little bit more time to put them on."
