Shorts were used primarily for running and weight lifting.

Nice breathable shorts with well placed mesh design. I'd suggest maybe putting a tougher material in the crotch/groin seam to protect against thinning the material.

After a few months of activity the groin/crotch mesh lining started developing some damage- there was noticeable thinning, and then eventually a hole opened up.

I still wear them regularly for running, but I can no longer use them for weight lifting.

Wish I got more life out of them, though.

Great pair of pants with nice ventilation. Using it in the heat and for fast paced fall hikes. Maybe I'll try winter to see how it holds up.

I found the pants to be very snug, but almost perfect. I have muscular thighs and glutes, so the fit is a bit tighter than I'd like- the stretch helps a bit. The crotch rise is a bit short for me, and almost "suffocates" the groin area- not sure if this will be an issue in extremely hot climates as one would prefer a looser crotch for those instances.

If you don't have too much meat in the thigh and glute region I'm sure these pants would be quite loose. Too bad these don't come in a "Full," version.

My measurements for anyone in need of a reference-
Thigh : 28 inches ( measured around thickest portion)
Seat : 45 inches ( measured around thickest portion)

Hope this helps.

Size Purchased: Large

First, my fit specs for those who need it (in imperial) : All measurements are done around the thickest part of that body part.

I lift regularly and am muscular, although not extremely lean.
I wear a 44 regular for suits.

42 Chest
33 Sleeve
33 Waist
17 Neck
15 Bicep
14 Forearm

The Good:

This jacket fits great with a little room for a thinner layering piece in the arms. The body has ample room for a down vest for extra core warmth. The fleece backing feels nice and soft against skin, and provides a little extra warmth.

The jacket breaks the wind(heh) and shrugs off light drizzles as advertised.

The Bad:

The left zipper will always rub up against your chin, resulting in a scratchy sensation that is honestly quite annoying.

The seams in the sleeve are sewn together and not flattened against the wall of the fabric, resulting in a long protrusion the entire length which rubs and scratches your arm as you move about- not a problem if you're wearing a long sleeve garment underneath. The seams are also not sealed and very obvious on the outside of the fabric, so if water were to slide right into the crack, you'll start to feel some moisture leak through

Conclusion

The hard faced fabric, the dwr, and wind resistance are great. If obtained at the modest 60$ that I did, it is awesome. Though, at original price of 120$, I would expect way better design choices from the team at Columbia. It falls short in terms, but could be better if they improved the quality of life things like flat sewn, sealed seams and a better zipper that doesn't scratch the chin.

This is definitely a softshell for non-technical outdoor things like standing in line for the pub, or moving between cars and buildings. As the description says, "For casual, work," and it fits the bill perfectly.

The medium I got fits great for a solo-wear piece. I have no space at all to add another layer underneath . Out of the bag, the forearms were great, but after a single wash, even taking care to wash cold and dry on lowest heat setting, the shirt shrunk a tad, and now my forearms and biceps are quite hugged, although not strangled. The fit across the shoulders and chest is great with no issues there. I can raise my arms up and swing them around with no hindrance of mobility. I can't fasten the neck-button, though.

If I wanted some space to wear a shirt or some layer underneath, a large would have been great, though I believe the sleeves may have ran a bit longer.

As to the performance of the shirt itself- it's great.
I initially bought the shirt for hot weather hiking (80 Fahrenheit+), but have used it down into the 60s while keeping up a good moving pace. The backing definitely wicks sweat and is vented nicely. The underarm and side vents are also great at providing some breeze entry and heat dumping. The roll-up sleeve buttons are also a nice touch in case you need to roll up the sleeves or prefer less coverage.

Thanks for reading.

Shirt is very light weight- great for these hot summer days.

Wicks moisture and dries pretty quickly.

Durability is a concern as the material catches very easily to any type of protrusion. For example, I can feel my calluses "catching," on the shirt if I run my palm up and down on the face of the fabric.

It's also pilled and "fuzzed up," a bit on the front of the shirt after a single wash.

I've only begun to use this as a semi-casual shirt for work.

The shirt is very light and airy- just walking at a brisk pace I can feel the air running through the fabric.

It's not summer yet as of writing this review, but I have a strong feeling that this will be one of my go-to shirts for hot days.

I plan on taking this shirt into the desert in the summer and I'll come back and edit this review afterwards.

For anyone curious about sizing, this is a semi-fitted shirt, meaning it's been cut to be a bit more slimming.

I'm 5'10, 205lbs, athletically built individual with rather broad shoulders; this shirt in Large fits me almost perfectly. For anyone who is similar, I wear a 16 1/2 neck and 33/34 sleeve for my dress shirts- most cases in a more slim cut otherwise the shirt looks like a box.
