Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Fit: Runs small
Height: 5' 10"
Weight: 154 lbs
Size Purchased: large - the MIPS insert adds volume so you may have to go up a size (I used mediums in the pre MIPS version

I have used Giro's synthe helmets for a few years - great ventilation, but very expensive. I crashed recently and needed a new helmet. So I tried this model. Half the price and better in my opinion. Fits better, padding much better than on the Synthe. Great ventilation, but with that comes a price - very noisy, especially if you ride on windy days. Light weight.

I took this on my ride this morning I ride about 100 miles a week - the forecast was for rain. After riding about 20 miles, the rains came. By this time, I had built up a good sweat (I had on a tight short-sleeve Santini jersey and a Castelli mesh baselayer). I was looking forward to giving this jacket a try. The rain was moderate. The jacket kept me from getting wet from the rain, but had practically no breathability. The fit was right (I like form-fitting cycling clothes - I bought a medium in the jacket, which fit great over my jersey and baselayer). I rode in the rain for another 20 miles, up some 10 degree hills. After about 20 minutes with the jacket on, my arms were drenched, my jersey was soaked and I had to unzip the jacket half way to get some ventilation. Did I get a dud? Everyone else raves about this jacket.

The fit is tight, which I prefer. I didn't notice that it kept me cool - I wore it on a rainy day and the temp was about 80. My only problem with it is that the shoulder stitching is very thick and I could feel it digging into my skin under my form-fitting jersey for the first 20 miles.

I have used Giro synthe helmets for a few years. My last one's liner just cracked due to a crash so I replaced it with this MIPS system. Great helmet - ventilation is superb. You may need to go up a size because of the MIPS insert. I ordered a medium and had to return it for a large - no hassle from CC. My only issue is that no one seems to make the replacement padded insert which goes at the front of the helmet. The original pad is fine, but after washing off the sweat a few times, it falls apart.

Familiarity: I've used it several times

After 45 years of toe clip and straps and Detto Pietro shoes, I bought my first pair of clipless pedals (and of course the shoes and cleats to go with them). The pedals are excellent - a nice feature is that getting your cleated shoe onto the second pedal is easy IF you bring the pedal up to the 12 o'clock position using your already-attached first shoe (here is the key) without hitting it with your shoe. The pedal at 12 o'clock with have the attachment site up for easy connection to your cleated shoe. The reason i gave the pedals 4 stars is because you need a 2.5 mm hex wrench to adjust the tension but the wrench is not included either with the pedals or the cleats - Shimano should be ashamed.

Fit: True to size

My first pair of clipless shoes (after 45 years of toe clips and straps with Detto Pietro shoes). First pair of shoes I ever bought that came with an instruction manual! The shoes fit like a glove - true to size - i wear a 44 in toe clip and clipless shoes. I was apprehensive about spending so much on shoes, but they are beautifully made.
