These are the only backpacking boots you'll need for all four seasons. I took these for the first time into the Sawtooths, a bit hesitantly, anticipating blisters and tired legs from the weight. What I loved most about them turned out to be the weight, ankle support, and grip on them, which kept me sturdy on slick rock during sleeting rain. By the end of our 13 mile afternoon, without breaking them in, I was so comfortable, I passed on camp shoes to put around in these instead. The cushioning around the ankles were a plus, midsoles that absorbed repeated impact, and I felt 0 dampness even after slipping partially into the river. So comfy and warm, I could've slept in them.
Size 39 fits my size 8 foot well.
