Clint Arnett's Bio

I have been skiing since I was a little kid and moved out to Utah from Kentucky in 2005 to pursue a life as a ski bum. Since moving here, I have developed a much broader respect and love for many other outdoor activities such as hiking and camping. Climbing has become a recent passion of mine and I try to get out as much as possible.

Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I got this for my 11-year-old lab because, as you may know, you can't keep a lab from swimming... no matter the conditions. So, I got this for him as he is getting older to just help him out a bit. I also really love the grab handle if he happens to get into some faster-moving water or any other unforeseen events.

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have had these for a year or two for my dog to save his feet on long hikes and backpacking trips and they work great, so I had to get some for the new doggo too! It takes a little bit for him to get used to them everytime, which can be funny, but once he gets used to them, I think even he likes the added protection and charges a little harder than without them on.

Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

This was a gift. Here is what she had to say after using it:

I’ve used this backpack on 3 trips so far this season and I love it! Initially, I was disappointed that Osprey changed the way the packs were designed - making it more difficult to find a lightweight backpack with pockets, but overall I’m pretty stoked on how this pack is functioning. The internal top zipper on the brain is useful for a lot of different small items, and I love that there is another external zipper on the outside of the brain, perfect for my headlamp, first aid kit, and puffy. One downsides though is that I wish the front outer pocket was made of mesh instead of a zippered one. Historically, I use this pocket for wet items or things that really stink and it’s kind of a bummer to not be able to have that breathability on the front. I guess Osprey tried to mitigate this though with adding a second drop in pocket right behind it. Overall, I highly recommend this pack and I look forward to taking it on the Highline Trail later this summer!

Familiarity: I've used it several times

I love these poles. I wanted to go with an adjustable pole so that I could use them for resort skiing and touring. They are very lightweight and seem super strong. The adjustment locking mechanism is well designed as well, with a classic Philips head screw to lock it down if they start to slip on you.
