Familiarity: I've used it several times

I love this bag. I did not want to sacrifice warmth while having to pack minimal for a trip to BC recently. This bag exceeded my expectations! While being light and highly compressible, it remains true to its temperature rating. The temps I was in did not get as cold as expected and I ended up using it as a quilt. I did use it while zipped up for a short while and it was quite roomy!

I highly recommend this bag!

This is one of the best priced rain jackets with venting out there! It is packed full of nice features including a slightly longer back, large pockets, adjustable hood, vents, and fully sealed seams. It is light enough to bring just in case, offers some serious weather protection with the 2.5 layer membrane, and fits really nice. I am 5'11 and 145 lbs with long arms. The medium fit is great.

Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I needed a pair of socks for a recent trip up to Lone Peak Cirque to do some climbing. I have used Smartwool for my winter socks for awhile now and decided to give the summer socks a go. I was super impressed with how snug and protective they felt right away. They really helped with moisture control and after wearing the same pair for 3 days they did not smell near as bad as some of the other socks I have used.

These pants are great for when you are hitting the town or going for a casual hike. As others have mentioned they do not have much stretch so climbing in them is not ideal. I highly recommend them if you are looking for a comfortable casual pant with tons of color options.

I have been sold on Chaco Sandals for sometime now. I have always thought they were comfortable, were stable enough to use on technical hikes, and had plenty of adjustment for a custom fit. I ended up using them for approaches, casual bike rides, river activities, everything.. I found myself beating my feet up all the time so I decided to find a sandal that offered more protection. Enter The Hoka One One Tor Trafa Sandal.

With some difficulty getting the neoprene booty on the first go I was immediately impresssed with how comfortable these sandals were. When pulled tight I felt a release of pressure between the arches of my foot. All 3 arches of my foot felt supported, this was new to me in a sandal and I do not want to go back!

I have now used these for hiking, exploring lava caves, and relaxing in some natural hot springs. They have done a great job keeping rocks out, protecting my feet, and draining/drying when wet. The only downfall so far is how warm and sweaty my feet get if I am not getting them wet constantly. It is easy to see these shoes are going to shine for wet adventures.

With that, I would highly recommend upgrading your sandal game. My Chaco Sandals still have a place, but these are going to be going on more trips. I really look forward to getting them on a river trip. I will be sure to update with more info when I do! I usually wear a 10.5, purchased these in an 11, and I could of easily fit into a size 10. I imagine they only would be more comfortable.

Often my friends will go on most of their adventures without any sort of medical kit. More often then not it is because they don't want to carry the extra weight/ take up more space or they do not wish to spend the money. This kit is lightweight, compact, and fair priced. Do yourself a favor and pick one up. Your mom will be happy and if you ever need to use it , you will too. It is a great place to start.
