Familiarity: I've used it several times
Fit: Runs large
Height: 6' 5"
Weight: 200 lbs
Size Purchased: Large

I bought this jacket during a discount period, so not quite the sticker shock from retail. Quality is as expected from Patagonia. This jacket is incredibly warm/windproof and requires nearly zero layering underneath. Great for cold resort skiing or simply as a very warm winter coat. Downsides are Patagonia way off with the sizing on this model. I've worn XL in their jackets for more than 20 years and all of a sudden a L is what fits (with room to spare). Other downsides are zippers take significant use to break in, and the fit is a little boxy/loose, with no mid-section draw cord to reign the bulk in. Removable powder skirt a nice feature. Overall great piece of gear, not sure its worth the retail price.

There is no question Hestra makes great quality products. With that being said I have been fairly disappointed with the warmth of this glove in temperatures below 32F. I first purchased this glove in the non-gore tex model and my hands literally froze on the first day at 20F at A-Basin. I thought perhaps the Gore-tex model may offer more wind protection, so I returned the first pair and paid the additional $ for the Gore-tex version. Essentially the same glove from a warmth perspective. In fairness, I have a difficult time keeping my hands warm and have struggled in the past to find a comfortable glove for below freezing temps. Unfortunately I used these a couple too many days to return them in hopes they would magically meet my expectations...which they have yet to do. I don't think they are overpriced for what they are, just recognize that if you have chronically cold hands these gloves will disappoint you.
