Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This bag was exactly what I was looking for. There are enough gear attachment points on the outside to hold the basics I want quick access to and plenty of storage for everything else. The fold-down front fly pocket is great, you can fold it down and set things on it to free up a hand and the built in dry pocket is a great feature for licenses and phones. The front sling pocket is also a great feature for quick-access items.
My only gripe is I wish it had a way to carry a net. This isn't a deal breaker but it would be nice to see.

Amazing quality, great glasses

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I used these glasses for fly fishing and low light days. The fit only touches the bridge of my nose and ears which allows for great ventilation. They sit tight and don't move on my face even with a lot of activity but they are still comfortable after prolonged wear. Lens quality is incredible and with the yellow tint, spotting fish is a breeze. My major complaint is there is a gap below the lens and my cheek where some glare shines through but it is only really noticeable on very sunny days on the water. In the end, I would rather have a little glare then my glasses fogging up all the time. Overall, incredible quality frames and lens. Definitely would recommend Zeal to others.

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Spent the summer as a guide in Southeast Alaska in this jacket. Used and abused it daily by bushwhacking through thorns and shrubs, getting sea-spray on it, sitting on the ground on it, etc etc. At the end of the season, I washed it and it looks brand new. Never lost its water proof, never even showed signs of wear in the cuffs. My only qualm is it fits a little big. (I'm 5'10", athletic build and wore a large).

Don't expect this jacket to keep you dry. I have added the Greenland Wax about five times and have found that it sheds water for the first storm but after wearing the jacket and working the wax into the fabric, water will saturate through. In snowy conditions, the snow tends to melt and then soak in.
Despite this, I use the jacket daily in a shipyard in New England. It is a tough, well designed, and comfortable fitting (I'm 5'10" and weigh 165 wearing a large with room for layers). I crawl under boats on gravel and pavement and don't worry about it tearing. I like the G-1000 material because I can use metal grinders and don't worry about the sparks melting the material. It will shed light mists and will break the wind, but if you're outside too long in these conditions, you will eventually get wet. The hood is well designed and the pockets are excellently placed. It has a nice high collar to keep the wind off of your face. Overall, it is a very tough, extremely well designed jacket for checking the surf and getting to the pub in a light rain but I would never take it into the backcountry.

I used the jacket for a few weeks on the New England coast sailing/working on the water/hiking/walking through town and found it to be fine at shedding light rain and blocking the wind, but any more precipitation and the jacket was soaked through. I understand that to increase the waterproof nature of the G1000 material you need to add Greenland Wax, but because the majority of the jacket is a stretchy, different material, they suggest using another spray on waterproofing agent which, personally, kind of defeats the nature of the waxed cotton jacket.

Aside from this, it is an extremely comfortable jacket that is well thought out. The zipper and some of the stitching seemed a little light for my use in a coastal, salt-air environment but the jacket isn't designed for that.

This is a great jacket. I'm 5'10'' and 165 and got the large. A little big but perfect with a layer beneath it. I normally don't trust the breathable and waterproof idea but the Hyvent 2.5L is wonderful. I bicycle to work every day and wear this jacket rain or shine and it does wonders. I stay dry in the rain and fog and don't end up with a clammy jacket. I also wore it doing a half century ride/trail run and it breathed when it needed to and kept me dry when it rained. North Face got it right.
