Hiking must have
4 5

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Fit: True to size
Height: 5' 6"
Weight: 150 lbs
Size Purchased: Medium

These are great. I wore them in the snow by themselves with some Patagonia baggies overtop with snow gaiters and it was the perfect combination. Also great for sleeping in. Can be worn casually by themselves or as a base-layer for added warmth. I usually wear a size small in leggings, but I got a medium in these so they would be looser and not constrict my body while hiking. They do pill, but I think that's€™ a small price to pay for the quality.

Go To Shorts
5 5

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Fit: Runs small
Height: 5' 6"
Weight: 150 lbs
Size Purchased: Large

These shorts are great. I use them all the time and am currently using them on a backpacking trip in Colorado. They dry fast and don’t smell like running shorts do. (You know what I’m talking about.)

As far as sizing goes, They’re a bit loose in the waist for me and I wish they rode a bit higher on the waist like the regular baggies do, but until they come out with a high/mid waisted barely baggies, these will be my go to outdoor activity shorts.

I usually wear a size small in leggings and I have a medium in smartwool leggings. I have a 28” waist and 39” hips. Hope that helps!

Hoka Heaven
5 5

Familiarity: I've used it several times

These shoes are super comfortable right out of the box. Got them to go on a backpacking trip in the Colorado mountains. Haven’t finished the trip yet, but these have performed so well I had to review them. There’s not too much pressure on the ankle; it just feels like a flexible thick sock material.

The boot is waterproof, so I wouldn’t necessarily get it for desert hiking or if you’ll be doing a lot of stream crossings, but then again I haven’t tried this shoe out with those activities. If you’ll be using micro spikes and an ice axe, these are a solid choice.

I usually wear a 7 in shoes, but opted for a 7.5 since I’d be wearing wool socks and going longer distances where my feet might swell. Perfect fit.

One thing they could improve slightly is a wider toe box, but with all of these pluses, it’s tough finding something bad to say. On that note I will say that I have morton’s Neuroma and these shoes don’t really irritate it (the wider toe box would help though).

I’m in the pink shirt in the photo. 👍 happy hiking
