Cat's Bio

Raised in the Rocky Mountains of Northern Idaho, I've always been drawn to the peaks. I am a freelance photographer and filmmaker during the week, and outdoor adventurer on the weekends. My shins are scarred. My chain is greased. And my boots are muddy, waiting for me by the door.

Soul Sister Love
5 5

Familiarity: I've used it several times

These are my first full tilt boots--and the first ski boots that I actually love. They are VERY comfortable and lightweight. This winter in Colorado has been very cold in the mountains, and yet even in the negatives, my feet stay warm in these. Can't wait to use them all season! (I think I have last season's color).

Fits Perfectly
5 5

Familiarity: I've used it several times

With only nightmares of my childhood helmet, this helmet is night and day. The back adjuster really helps customize the fit if you have a small head. My head and ears never get cold, and the air vent lets the sweat breath. This baby's going to last me many a ski season!

Love this coat!
5 5

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Fit: True to size
Height: 5' 2"
Weight: 130 lbs
Size Purchased: small

Fashionable, waterproof and WARM.

I have test this coat almost everyday for a month. I wear it on my cold commute, out to bars, and I pop it on the minute we get done skiing and back to the car. The long length makes this such a great coat for so many occasions.

The main reason I wanted to try this coat was that it is waterproof. While a warm jacket is great, more often than not I am always stuck in the snow. So far this coat has done well in both the snow and light rain. The material and down is so thick , but even in the wind I stay really warm.

If you are wondering about the faux fur, it is a great touch. It doesn't look "real" but it doesn't look tacky either. It is nice to have an extra layer around the face, especially in the wind.

The only complaint I have about this coat, is that when you are walking, it does tend to bunch up around the middle. I am probably shorter than the average girl, but sometime the zipper works up from the bottom when walking. It may just be where the knees hit it.

However, overall, I love this jacket and it is perfect for cold Colorado winters. Can't wait to use this beautiful coat this winter!

Love this Basin and Range Gem

Familiarity: I've used it several times
Fit: Runs large
Height: 5' 3"
Weight: 130 lbs
Size Purchased: Small

The Basin and Range Evergreen coat is an awesome addition to my closet! Only having it a few weeks I have gotten several compliments on it.

PROS

There are so many great features on this coat! First, I love the color and the lining. On the website, the coat just looks grey, but in actuality, there is a heathered pattern. And the lining is a feathered print which is gorgeous!

While of course the jacket looks great, it also performs under a lot of different conditions. The length lends itself to really cold days. The fill, while warm, is not thick. The jacket is lightweight and flexible. Great for walking around town, or commuting in the winter.

THE HOOD IS AMAZING. I love that it is lined, warm, and stays up in the wind. Also, it is big enough to have a ponytail, or beanie under it.

CONS

The only complaint I have about this jacket is the sizing. I am usually a size small in most lines (so that is what I ordered), but the coat is a bit large around the torso. The arms, chest, and length are great. I have already tried on the Vest in this same time in the XS, but it is a little tight across the chest. I don'€™t think the coat looks too big, especially if wearing other sweaters or bulky clothes underneath. But if you are not sure what size to order, probably order down.

While I wish this coat was waterproof, but in light rain it seems to hold up pretty well against the moisture.

Overall I give this coat 5 stars and can€'t wait to see what adventures I can take it on. I love how the Basin and Range line really fashions their women's outwear with well made, and well fitting gear.
