Carolyn Crawley's Bio

If you are looking for me, the best place to start looking is outside. In the winter, start at the nearest ski resort where I will be either skiing or snowboarding. When the weather turns warm, I'm usually headed out hiking or backpacking looking for the cool temps in the upper elevations.

There is definitely a learning curve to this quilt bag. The first night I took it out I was car camping and still had my old bag with me. I ended up using a combination of the old and new and slept great, but it took me a little trial and error to ditch the old bag completely. Overall I like the design and will use this bag more in the future.

I really enjoyed using this stove. & the grill attachment. I thought the grill portion was the most unique part of it. We even used it as a make shift heat source when we were camping in an area without an established fire ring. I mainly used pellets, which worked really well. I also used regular wood scraps and them also worked well, just shorter burn time before tending. I really enjoyed the stove so far and am interested in trying the larger version.

This chair is awesome! Its easy to set-up and very stable. It was the most stolen chair of the camping trip and its great for keeping the kids entertained. I do think its better suited ergonomically to taller people, but it was still very comfortable for kids and shorter adults. It feels like a cross between a hammock and a chair. Unlike other reviewers I didn't have any problems getting it back into the bag, but then again nothing is ever very easy to get back in the bag. :-)

Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Once set up this tent is roomy and well made, however the set-up is not intuitive. Due to the exoskeleton design, the poles and the fly are pitched first, then the main tent is clipped into the fly structure. While not intuitive, it does give you the option to use the fly independently as a very stable low slung sun shade. I enjoyed the Mtn-Glow LED lights that come with this tent its way better than just hanging up a lantern/ headlamp

This lantern is well designed and very bright. I made sure it was fully charged before heading out for a weekend adventure and never had to recharge in the field.. I did like that it has a built in crank charge, just in case solar charging wasn't an option. Its seems well designed and very sturdy. The dimmer knob was very nice to dial-in the right brightness. I also liked that the USB charging cable is built and easily stows out of the way. I have several other rechargeable products and I'm always having to dig around for the cables, but not with this little guy,

I used these on a recent trip to Europe. I'm usually a throw everything in a bag and go kinda packer, but I was trying to fit more things into less space on this trip. The packing cube were great to help me achieve this goal. I especially appreciated the garment folder. I was able to pack shirts and dresses into one neat package and I found that wrinkling was dramatically reduced from regular folding and packing. Overall, great product, well designed and weighs next to nothing.

I bought this base layer for backpacking. I like to hike in skirts, so when it gets cold I just throw on this base layer underneath and I'm good to go. Its so great at wicking that I have worn then straight from the trail and into my sleeping bag without being worried about getting cold from moisture.
In the winter these are one of favorite layers for skiing. The hold up well and maintain their shape even through many hours of hard riding.

There is nothing fancy about this top, but you are going to want every color anyway. It just a solid layer. I bought my first one a few years ago and its still going strong, no hems coming loose and no holes like I have found with some other merino brands. Great to wear on its own when its chilly and can be layered under sweaters when its frigid outside.

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Fit: True to size

This is my second pair of speedcross trail running shoes. The first pair I used for about 6 months and then they were stolen out of my car. I replaced them with a different brand because they were cheaper and they just didn't hold a candle to the speedcross. Eventually, when I was time to replace them. I ponied up for the speedcross4's and decided they are worth every penny. They seem to repel mud, are super grippy, have great cushion and seemly last a lot longer than other operable shoes.

I chose this bag based on the Western Mountaineering name and reputation. This bag lives up to the hype. If you want a bag that built to last and checks all the boxes for a lightweight, crazy warm sleeping bag that's not going to have problems in a year or two, buy this bag!

After using a more traditional ultra-lite pad for years. I recently upgraded to this BA pad. Even before using the pad, I appreciate the selection of sizes available, so I can dial in the exact pad that fits my body and sleeping patterns. This pad is weights under a pound, it's amazingly thick, doesn't sound like a potato chip bag and will inspire envy in all of your tentmates.
You can't go wrong with this pad.
