Set -2cm from factory line at 315 BSL, rides EXCELLENT.
First off, this boot simply rocks!
Background: Coming back to skiing (3rd season) from snowboarding for more than a decade exclusively. I grew up skiing and switched over to the board many years ago and now I am back on two planks.
After shopping for boots and trying on a good 30+ pair, I found I needed a narrowish, low volume boot that will fit my narrow heal as well. After looking at several Dalbellos, I put on the Shoguns. I died and went to heaven at this point. The boots felt wonderful right off the bat. The low volume of the boot, along with a 98 last fit my narrow feet to the T. So I bought them at REI with a 20% off coupon (that they did not honor, fine print). Since I have spend a great deal of money at BC.com, I called to see if I could get that 20% I orinially wanted. Based on my history, I got it, bought on the spot and the originals went back to REI. Oh well, more business for Backcountry. You guys keep me coming back....thank you.
Spent several hours at home in several days doing a little breaking in.
My first day on the slopes this year was wonderful, mainly because my new Shoguns felt as comfy as if I were in my snowboard boots.
Great boots period.
Fit great, don't slide around. Would prefer on top strap, but they do have the criss cross dealio going on. For my smaller quads (for now), the one strap would be prefered. I use these only for technical, rocky sections of xcountry trails and will be using them at trails like at Solitude on the DH. Not a full to ankle pad so unclipped peeps may want the full to ankle version.
Great fit, they don't slide around on a ride.
They have decent venting, nice padding and fit comfortably without having to strap them down hard. The plastic guards on the elbow and forearm are designed well to not interfere with each other.
Just need more trail time for more test time!
Great ankle support. Fits my narrow heel perfectly. Works great with my S4 bindings as well as my SPX 90 bindings on two different boards. Nice stiffness, just about perfect. These boots don't get wet and breathe great. I have yet to take off my boots and them be wet inside at all. My last boots would be soaked from sweat. I barely know they are on in the parking lot drinking beer after a great day.
...For her birthday. She loves them. Of couse she loved the look, but once on them she learned in a day to take a wider stance to get used to them. By day 3 on the mountain she is charging conmfortably on them, getting into the crud and powder now when she never would before. She skis like a different, better skier now and said just yesterday she can't get skiing off her mind since last Sunday was so good for her.
Mounted with Rossi Axial 2s, nice setup!
