Familiarity: I've used it several times
I got this pack to use for the bus commute to/from work in downtown Portland. I carry my laptop with me and the laptop sleeve has proved to be a major frustration. The sleeve extends about 3/4 of the way up the inside of the pack and has a bunch of organizer pouches for pens, pencils, etc on the outside of it. So when I have my laptop in my pack and I go to stuff my gym clothes & shoes into the pack they inevitably snag on either lip of the laptop pouch itself or the organizer pockets on the outside.
Plus, the bag is wider at the top and tapers down towards the bottom, so when fully loaded it can feel awkward. It's not big enough to be truly top-heavy like a backpacking pack, but it still feels odd.
Then there's the outside pocket. The pocket is long and narrow, so unless the only things you carry in it are an umbrella, ruler or drum sticks (something long and narrow), you have to stick your whole arm in to reach the bottom. Again, awkward at best.
I usually love Mountain Hardwear gear, but this one is a dud. Time to go back to the tried and true North Face pack with holes in it.
