Brennen Monahan's Bio

I grew up on the east coast in New Hampshire and moved out west to Utah to follow the snow and for school. I'm an avid skier, but love to get after just about anything to do with the outdoors. In my off time you'll find me heading to the mountains to hike, climb, or a few morning laps on the slopes.

Familiarity: I've used it several times

I picked this up very quickly after using a friends while car camping in Hood River. Heats up very quickly and evenly and gets your food done to perfection in no time at all. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a solid grill that's easy to set up at dinner time.

I snagged this chair pretty quickly after borrowing one from a friend. I grew up using chairs at a "normal" height and this was surprised at how much i liked the height of this. It definitely sits lower but is the perfect height to throw your feet up around the fire pit or just lounge when bbqing at tailgate. A much more relaxing height and super comfortable chair plus a cup holder that can hold your open can and the runner up at the same time.

Awesome Harness
5 5

Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I don't use a harness too often as I prefer to boulder instead. However, I took this with me down to Canyonlands for canyoneering and I loved it! In the past I've had a lot of harnesses ride up and be real uncomfortable, but this was hardly noticeable.

I was limited to using a size small, but with a 32 waist they were just barely on the small side for me. I probably would have preferred a medium instead.

I grabbed this blanket to use on the chillier nights when camping in the desert and I've been very impressed. Pefect for using on cold winter mornings at home or sitting by the fire in the middle of nowhere. I also love the AT logo that brings me back to my roots in NH

These are, by far, one of my favorite flannels I've owned. Nice thick and warm material, exactly what should be expected rather than the thin "for looks". Even being a burlier material it's still much more soft and comfortable to wear than most out there! Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a warmer fall/winter shirt

I've only gotten up on these once so far since purchasing but so far I love the way they function. If you want a solid set up to tour, but don't have the money to get set up with a quiver of skis, these are a solid bet. They adjust really nicely and function perfectly. As most other have said they are heavier than a tech binding, but they still fit the bill perfectly.

After talking with a lot of friends that wore similar Chacos, I finally decided to snag a pair myself. Right out of the box they are very comfortable and break in pretty quickly. Im excited to use these on some summer hikes in the upcoming months

I picked these up for use hiking, skiing, and touring and so far I've been impressed! I'm a person who was pretty religious to frogskins for a while for the plastic hinges. After using these I'm very happy to stick with them. The interchangeable pieces are very easy to swap out and stay nice and locked in place. I'm a big fan of the hook pieces to wrap around your ears that are easy to take on and off, but also do a great job keeping them in place.

This is an awesome fleece to use camping, lounging around the house, or on a night out with a wide range of colors depending on what you like. I wouldn't really say this fits large, it is definitely a relaxed and baggy fit - great for a casual day.

The more I ski factions the more amazed I am by their awesome quality and solid feel. This ski has an awesome camber feel under foot to carve hard and keep them stable on jumps. That transitions into a smooth soft feel in the tips and tails like no other ski I've been on before. I'd highly recommend these to anyone looking to ski park

I honestly don't think I'll ever switch to another helmet while this is still being made. I've taken some big impacts and walked away with nothing serious. Awesome comfortable and protective design. Their sizing does seem a little smaller than other companies use so definitely look at the size chart before selecting a size

These are an awesome pair of socks, perfect for any type of weather. I've now used them on warm sunny days and colder days powder skiing. They are a little thicker than I thought they'd be so if you like super thin and light socks these may be a little heavy

This is a great bag for everyday use at the resort or for shorter AT hikes. Its the perfect size to pack an extra layer, water, and a few snacks with enough room to stuff away your skins at the end of your hike! It sits nice and close to your body so you don't actually feel like you are lugging around something behind you. Perfectly happy with Osprey products as always.

I picked this up as a warm base layer for skiing and so far its been great! I bought a size large to fit over my light wicking base layer and it fits perfectly. The first day I used it I wore my base layer, this fleece, and my ski jacket and was hot on a 6 degree day. Definitely satisfied with this purchase.

Awesome skins, pain to set up
3 5

Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've have used these skins multiple times in the past on setups other than my own and have always loved their gripping ability on the snow as well as the awesome glue that holds great on the skis and not too much trouble getting covered in snow. However, today was the first time I ever set up a pair, which is not the most fun project. Being a person who works on my own car, it takes a lot to get under my skin, but having all three screws on both tips freeze halfway through and then strip did the job. I ended up having to break off the screw side rather than the tips because I could not get them back out, and now I have little pointed ends sticking out. With that being said, they still do hold together fine and there is no movement on the tips. The cutting tool was a godsend on these as all you do is run it down the edges of your ski and it strips away the excess of the skins.

I used these for the first time today and can already tell I'm going to love them! I don't get many AT days in and spend most of my powder skiing around resorts so these will suit me just fine. They have a great adjustable length and are not nearly as heavy as some adjustable poles! They have great adjustable straps and nice big baskets as well, definitely nothing to complain about so far!
