Brayton H.'s Bio

Ex- ice climber (getting older!) into cross country skiing and hiking and the occasional climb. Live in the country because the city was killing me; mountain air saved my life. Cold weather and deep snow rules. -20 is perfect night time weather and days at 20 or less make for a perfect Winter. No bugs, no dirt, no softies whining about how cold it is! But always friendly to anyone I meet out there and will do anything to help. Love the land and the critters unless they are in my food stash!

This hat keeps my head temp just right without getting sweaty when working outside in winter. On colder fall nights, it is nice for walks, too. Old-school styling makes it fit right in in rural vermont... not too flashy and has an almost hand-made look to it. The quality is typical OR, solid. I'd expect it to last many years and it will be worn often.

The build quality is great with superb leather quality and stitchwork to match. The cuff is ample so fitting over expedition weight shell wrist-closures is easy and secure. They are well suited for 10 degrees F and colder and I have been satisfied easily to -26 degrees so far. A bit too warm at 20 degrees F and warmer unless your just sitting around, such as belaying a fellow climber or observing wildlife or astronomy on a clear, crisp Winter night.

I am very pleased and would buy Hestra brand again when the need arises. Toasty fingers!
