Familiarity: I've used it several times

This last summer our boy scout troop was doing an event where we signaled with mirrors from one mountain peak to another. While everyone else was using the huge 12" X 12" mirrors to signal, I pulled out my little mirror and started signaling away. I found it was very easy to sight in or aim the mirror and actually quite fun. I like how it's small and lightweight for easy packing. I purchased a handful of these for all of my 72 hour emergency kits.

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've used my 500 for several years now and it's simply an awesome product. I use it for mountain biking, road biking and even sometimes take it hiking due to the extra long battery life. I like how you can have so many data points on your screen, yet at the same time the size is perfect. Not too big and not too small. It mounts easily and I switch use between the road bike and mountain bike.

This is my 2nd time purchasing this jacket after I lost the first one. I use it primarily for snowshoeing, for the up when alpine ski touring and for trail running. It's very light and very breathable. I typically only wear this and a base layer for these activities it works great. Also, the material is stretchy and comfortable.

I wear these socks for mountain biking, road biking, hiking, trail running and even they are great for casual wear. I'm in Utah so they especially are great to keep your feet warm on the bike in cold weather rides. They also dry quickly and don't stink like many synthetic socks. If you want them to last, always let them air dry after washing them in cold water. After a few years of using these socks, they are pretty much all I use now. I consider these socks a key component of my outdoor gear collection.

I've owned a pair of Lightning Ascent snowshoes for several years now and have been on many, many adventures with them. I think where they really shine is on steeper terrain, especially when it's icy and you need a good grip on the snow. The teeth all around the frame and toe crampon, combined with the heel riser bar make climbing an enjoyable experience. I highly recommend these for anyone who likes to explore and will be in variable conditions. I like these snowshoes so much that I purchased another 5 pairs for the rest of my family. These snowshoes I think will last 10 years plus, even under heavy use conditions. Simply a great piece of gear to own.

Mine broke

Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I purchased these to use on my boots while hiking on trails with packed snow conditions. The first time using them, within 1/2 hour of use, the rubber where one of the rivets connects to the chains broke and they fell off my boots. I'll be returning these for something more reliable. My guess is they would work fine for walking around the neighborhood or doing snow shoveling on your driveway, but not durable enough for heavy use in the backcountry.
