Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This guy came in extremely helpful in a pinch. I took it with me as a lighter option when I went on a backpacking/trail running adventure with my dog. The light worked perfectly for around the campsite and was happy to bring it around with me with the dispersion of light that you get with the popup. I fell in love with it when I needed a makeshift bowl for my dog. I simply added water to the "bowl" and it worked like a gem.

Loved the quality of this vest. Although I don't have a lot to compare it to this is probably the most comfortable vest I've worn in my young life. With so many sizes, adjustability and colors I was able to get everything just right. The shape of the vest allowed me to do all the activities I pushed towards (SUP and Kayak) plenty of pockets. It hit all the metrics for me.

I used this vest for a few quick assents through Utah's canyon trails. The 2L bladder at max capacity was the perfect fit for a 7-mile trail run. The outer rear pocket was a perfect fit for a Houdini. I challenged the chafe by wearing it without a shirt and the vest stayed comfortable the entire time despite the tan lines. Something you don't really notice is that the lowermost chest pocket goes the entire length of the ribs. I found this perfect to store snacks in, but it's also great to stuff the extra length of the tube when not in use. Usually, the tube-style packs are by biggest hinder because the excess can get in the way, but that was solved with this easy and useful function. Still a little bouncy for my liking. I want to say this is due to the lack of anchors (single on the top) to the bladder (HydroPak). The biggest benefit of this bladder type is that with the mesh contact point on the back is very breathable and with a cold bladder it gives you a great relieve in the sometimes brutal uphills.

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

We all know the Bronson is one of Santa Cruz's most utilitarian trail bike offered and to me, this bike is worth every dollar. With the reserve, you get carbon wheels as well, one of the heaviest components of the bike. I had a trial by fire with this one. The maiden voyage was Moab and couldn't have had a better weapon for the job. I felt like I practically closed my eyes and hoped for the best most of the time, but this handled anything I threw at it like a champ. If you have a chance to try this bike... please do. You'll thank me.

I was more than impressed with this helmet. I was having a hard time figuring out the design of this helmet, but it only took me one route to find out the genius. No twist lock? Isn't required, a quick adjustment with the back straps make it the perfect size. Shell only on the front? It has a high potential to rub as you're ascending and needs the abrasion resistance. This is a feature-filled essential that you will not go wrong with.

Nemo went all out on this one. The creativity of this setup is nothing to be overlooked. The suspension system is supportive yet easily adjustable. It does take a little longer to set up, but nothing too complicated, just do it before the headlamps come out. One of the improvements I'm looking forward to is a better cupholder. It's expected in something so expensive, but the cup options are limited for those that you can find on a normal campsite.

These shorts have all the minimalistic stylings that I've come to love from Haglofs. I went with the Dune tone in a size M for my 33inch waist. The length hit right below the quad level which is what I look for in a workout short. I thought the button front would get in the way, but I didn't notice after putting on the shorts. I used these initially for warmer water sports. But they later became my go to all around short for CrossFit workouts, running, and some lounging. I was surprised how easy they were to wash with the technical materials, but be sure to pull out of the dryer early. Not due to shrinkage but the materials are prone to wrinkles.

During my time with this jacket, I felt confident in its design right from the get-go. The first thing you notice is its minimalistic styling. With a single logo on the right chest, I didn't feel plastered with brand names. Something you don't notice in the pictures is how on the black parka it has this almost digit style weave pattern on it. In certain lights, it can look like a pin-stripped suit.

I was more than impressed with this helmet. We all know how hard it is to look no-dorky in a helmet, but I felt confident in this guy. It felt light and breathability was amazing I almost didn't notice it on my head after a while. I'm a giant fan of the Koroyd, but I would like to see a designed helmet hole for compatibility with Osprey's helmet holder system.

I was more than impressed with the features of this backpack. I took it into the reaches of Moab and the monsoon I dealt with on the motorcycle and it met my needs in almost every situation. The bladder that it comes with is from Platypus's Evo line which had the perfect amount for a day ride in the desert. The framed suspension system kept the bag from my body which in turn kept sweat spots building up on my back. The front pocket that is designed to store pads in actually wraps around the whole front of the bag giving yourself multiple options for either side bottle storage, knee and elbow pads or even bigger items like the growler I brought with me camping. The pockets were color coded so I didn't waste my time reaching for the wrong zippers and the middle pocket had many options so I could organize gear without putting on a tone of weight. Something you don't see in the pictures is the rain guard which is fluorescent and reflective. Smart move since you'll probably need to be more visible on the road if it were raining. The only downfall of the pack is actually one of my favorite features. The FloatAir suspension system holds the materials taught on the exterior of the bag. When I took a tumble this was the first point of contact to the abrasive rock creating a hole in the pack. Overall amazing pack.

As a novice MTBer I went with this as a first choice. Of course, the liner comes separately on these guys. I couldn't find any attachment system as I've seen on other shorts. Breathability was fantastic once I opened up the side panel, but it's only on one side. I'm a size 33 and the medium was perfect waste and length. My only concern comes from the anchor system. The hooks had a hard time finding their loop counterparts without distinct enough stitching. Still, an amazing pair of shorts to start off your MTB adventures.

I preferred the biped model to the traditional seat. The weight difference was unnoticeable, but the feet were bigger and weirdly felt more stable on half the feet. The hardware felt solid, but it was a learning curve to figure out how to get in and out of which is something I wouldn't want on a long adventure day. Still better than a z-seat as far as comfort.

I fully support the minimalist footwear lifestyle but understand many cannot. These shoes are perfect for the all-day shoe. I'm happy with how far Altra has come with their upper design or lack thereof. Gone are the days of giant title and bowling shoe styles. The Ego foam has perfect responsiveness for light jogs and work shoes. The knitted upper has a great fit and finish. And of course, I'm a giant fan of the large toe box. Word of warning since this might be their first zero drop shoe: your body is used to a raised heal for a pronounced foot moment but natural zero drops will make your Achilles work a little more than usual. Adjustment time can take 2-3 weeks.

I had purchased these jeans as a replacement for a similar wash from GAP. I was impressed by the sturdiness of the pants, but they were not exactly what I was looking for.
The initial try on felt boxy and stiff. I would hope this feeling would come out in the wash, but the seams in the crotch seemed uncomfortable and probably not as fixable.

The main purpose of this shoe was for a full-time landscaper. Long days in many different terrains and stepping in plenty of puddles. Its handled it all gloriously. I've gone through my fair share of Altras and this is the same great performance that I keep going back for.
Cons: The lugs, although amazing for the trails can be loud during the break-in period as expected. The rock plate was also noticeable during break-in. Sadly I have had to turn in these shoes to their warranty department due to a minor error in the arch well. I noticed a flaw in the water proof membrane mid-hike after about 4 months of hard work.

They’ve been awesome! I was told by a friend that these were a good starter pair of shoes especially since I’d never had climbing shoes before and they are just that. They don’t have too crazy of a curve so if your foot isn’t used to that curve you’ll be just fine. They take some time to break in like any shoe but overall these have been an amazing pair of climbing shoes!

Right now these are my go-to pants for a day to day basis. A common problem I have with a lot of my pants is wearing within the crotch. I want to believe this is due to some major, uncontrollable "man spreading". With these pants, it has seemed to solve all of that so far. The hidden gusset in the crotch and interwoven fabrics create amazing comfort. My concern is that with these extra seams that I've noticed a fray here and there with the constant friction. I will note that these pants are indeed amazing, and found them to have the perfect amount of stretch. I was disappointed to find that this line of DU/ER does not have a reflective tapped heel. I am still looking for DU/ER to come out with a pair that rises on the back side so that I'm not to worry about crack showing during riding.

I tried on excited for a minimalist shoe I could wear around the office. I was disappointed in the fit since that was crucial to the big toe outsole that offered protection during the barefoot experience. My toe didn't meet the rubber and would have to move down to a 12. I still like the style of the shoe, but the way the leather is integrated at the toe box made the shoe creak with every step. I don't know due to bad sizing that it causes the crease to be in the wrong spot, therefore, more noise, but it was the biggest factor in me not keeping the shoe.

The biggest point I can make is that the Boston edition of the Escalante is just minorly thinner thought the sole. The upper of the shoe is also a lot more breathable than the main Escalante. Overall, it is the performance edition of the normal Escalante. It is designed to be a fast shoe and that's what you get with this shoe. It generates a natural gate. I love the knitting of the upper, but it is built for a certain application, so take that into consideration. My recommendation, if you are buying this shoe as a daily, go with the normal Escalante or even the HIIT if you love the Altra lineup and need a race sprinter, this is your shoe.

As a tall person the ability to be comfortable in a mummy bag is essential. For Klymit to create this bag with such elasticity it was perfect for my 6'3 frame without the added cost of getting a 'tall' bag. The construction of the foot box was creative and comfy with the added benefit of shortening the whole bag for smaller users.
The complaints I have come from the zipper. I struggled accessing the inside zipper and snagged on the thinner fabric around the closure.
The heat retaining stretchy baffles were perfect for my ever moving sleep patterns. Was perfectly warm in temperatures anywhere from 50-15 degrees.
Will be looking forward to trying Klymit's updated 0' bag for winter activities.
