Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This book came recommended to me by a friend that is a seasoned fly fisherman. I really like the simple way it breaks down fly selection. The complexity can be a bit intimidating but the book helps to focus on a few principles that helps relax my anxieties. I am new to fly fishing but I think this book has something for everyone the newbie or seasoned pro.

Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I bought this for my 13 year old. He has a larger than average melon for his age. It is fits well with plenty of room for him to grow into it. It is a good looking helmet and as a parent the MIPS gives me a bit more peace of mind. The fit was easy to get dialed in. I got him the white helmet and he really likes it.

I picked up the Matte Blue/Lime for my son. He really likes the look of it. He is a small 9 year old and the helmet fits great with plenty of room for him to grow into it. It should last many years provided he is able to avoid crashing it. It was simple to get the fit dialed in just right.

I am not the best about cleaning my outerwear. I usually wear it until the DWR starts to fade and starts to wet out. The only thing that brings those items back from the dead is a good cleaning with Tech Wash and TX.Direct treatment. I have tried using cleaners other than tech wash and the results did not last. Tech Wash is absolutely needed to prep your gear for other treatments. If you use the TechWash then the TX. Direct works well. You do need to use a dryer to set the water proofer.

I bought this for my 8 year old to carry his gear on our family backpacking trip. He is only about 55 lbs so having this pack helped him hold to his weight capacity limit but had plenty of room for what he carried. He was able to carry his sleeping pad, some clothes, some water and some food. The pack was comfortable for him and there were zero complaints about the pack and the weight. This is certainly due to the comfort minded construction. If a backpack is uncomfortable this can shut down a child hiker and make a trip miserable for all. We had a great trip and having the right pack for my boy was an important part of that. I would highly recommend this pack.

I love this light. The reactik technology is awesome. Headlamps are designed for Hands free lighting. The Reactik adjustable lighting takes that to a higher level. You have low level brightness when you need it and long throw ultra bright vision when you want it, all automatically. It is truly something amazing and useful. The Bluetooth feature is not something that I have used a bunch. It is cool but I don't really use the light in a way where I need that. It is worth the purchase.

I love the classic BC Logo shirt. In fact I am wearing it as I type this review. The fabric is soft and comfortable. The sizing runs small so go a size up for sure unless you like tight tees. I have bought several colors because I like them.

I really like the feel of this shirt. Be warned it does run a little small. The color of the graphic when put on the heather gray shirt makes it a hard to see the graphic. It gives it a retro/faded like that some may appreciate. I would have liked more of a contrast hence the 4 stars.

I really like the design of this shirt. I love sporting Backcountry's Goat wear and this is a nice piece for the collection. Consider ordering larger than your size as this does run small as other reviewers point out.

I love the Axiom Jeans. I have been wearing them for years. I am on my 4th pair in 3 years. I still have all four pairs it is just that some have been relegated to Yard work duty. I keep coming back for the comfort. I love the stretch. It is just enough for me. The only complaint is my oldest and most worn pairs have had the hand pocket linings tear out on them. The newer pairs seem to have sturdier material so this will likely not be an issue with them. I hope Prana continues to make the Axiom as they are the best. Pay attention to the sizing chart when ordering. My waist is a 38 in most anything but I wear a size 36 in the Axiom.

I really liked these shorts and found them to be just what I needed. The laces can be a bit annoying but tying an overhand knot in each end as Charles R. suggested below corrected that annoyance. Always impressed with Kuhl products and these are no exception. They were true to size.

Got this for my 13 year old. It seems that all of his friends have them and love to use the social part of the Fitbit community to challenge each other. He has been obsessed with his activity level. He has been going strong for the last month or so. I don't see any signs of stopping. I asked him for a review. This is what he said.

"It is good. I like the display and it has accurate heart rate. It charges well and the band is good quality. It very easy to take on and off. It is quite comfy. The adjustment system is a little too coarse. It is either too tight of to loose. It is a good Fitbit overall."

There is a bunch to like about this shirt. I love the style, color and fabric. Feels like a soft touch cotton fabric but has all the qualities and desirability of the polyester. As far as fit I bought the XL to start with and found the waist part of the shirt too big around for my liking. I returned it and got the large size. I found that to be much better. The only complaint I have is the shoulders are slightly tight when I stretch both items out in front of my. I am a bit barrel chested so that might just be the fit on me. I am 6 ft even and about 250 lbs.

I bought this for my sone for two reasons. 1. He needed a warm winter coat. 2. He loves Under Armor brand.
It has turned out to be a good purchase. It has an innovative magnetic zipper mechanism that allows you to zip the coat one handed. You don't need to feed the one half of the zipper into the other and the zip. You just bring both halves close together they magnetically stick and lock together then you zip it up. He thinks it is really cool. I have some concern about the longevity of the zipper so that is the reason I have taken off a star. The quality of both the shell and liner are solid. The amount is insulation is just about right for a couple of layers. He is comfortable in 20 degree weather in the jacket.

I think the Blast match is by far the best "Flint and Steel"/magnesium rod fire starter out there. I take it on every trip. A little bit of dryer lint and one shot from the blast match and you have a fire. I use it to light my stove by holding over my stove and plunging the magnesium rod with my fingertip. Lighters are typically my go to but they don't work in the super cold and can fail when wet or just fail altogether for no reason. The blast match gives me peace of mind. I have used many of these types of fire starters and this is hands down the easiest to use and most effective.
