Backpacking Momwrote a review of Rab Electron Down Jacket - Women's on October 10, 2018
Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Fit: Runs small
This review is from an older version. I purchased this jacket a few years ago and have never regretted it. It is warm and flattering. I love the sleeves' elastic inner cuff, which keeps my wrists warm (which in turns helps my hands stay warm). I've put this through the works, from a 200-mile mostly off-trail backpacking trip in the Wind River Mountains to climbing numerous Colorado 14ers and Pico de Orizaba, plus all sorts of backwoods trips and around town. It has held up beautifully! I am very cold-natured, and it has been a perfect jacket for me.
I like jackets to fit loosely so I can wear many layers underneath, and even though I am 5'7 and 115#, I like the fit of the Medium. The sleeves on the Small were too short, and the body too shaped to accommodate bulky layers.
My version is a gorgeous electric turquoise with lime green trim. I absolutely love my Electron! I am counting on it to help me summit Aconcagua (with bulky layers under and a shell over, of course!)
