Andrewwrote a review of Arc'teryx Arro 22L Backpack on March 7, 2018
Familiarity: I've used it several times
I own numerous Arcâteryx packs and most of them are phenomenal, however this one is the exception. Materials are high quality and durable but design, comfort, and usability are poor at best.
This pack has adjustable shoulder straps but the stiff thick foam of the straps means this pack will ONLY ride high and tight. The “waist belt” rides above my navel on my lower ribs. The back panel offers no ventilation. Overall the pack feels stiff, uncomfortable, and cumbersome.
The compartment design is frustrating. Both exterior side pockets are oddly shaped, very shallow and nearly unusable. Things fall out constantly. The vertically zippered outside storage pocket is a feature I like on this, and other arcteryx packs, but the lack of other small pockets make it difficult to keep track of small items. This problem is made worse by the terrible exterior side pockets.
I expected a high quality, comfortable, and cleverly designed waterproof pack for hiking, biking, multi pitch and alpine climbing and was very disappointed. This pack will remain in my closet or go to the local gear swap.
