Comfortable hat for cragging
4 5

Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I was given this product from Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion. For one, I LOVE hats. For billed hats, I personally tend to stick to dad hats or the Patagonia LoPro hats because i have a “smedium” head (somewhere between a small/medium). The sizing on this hat was perfect for me (didn’t even have to figure out what to do with my ears like I typically have to with trucker hats) and it’s great for more casual activities like a day out at the crag, hiking, and hanging out. While the hat is adjustable I don’t think that it would be suitable for those with a larger head because the adjustability range isn’t as large as other hats. I haven’t taken it out for backcountry ski tours yet because it doesn’t seem that it would quite as breathable as the hats with mesh panels I typically wear. It fits decently under a helmet as well for rock climbing but isn’t super breathable. The quality of it is excellent and I think it would be great for cooler months. Overall, the Backcountry Logo Badge Quilted 5-Panel Hat is a quality, good fit, no-frills hat for a simple day out.

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The skins were initially a little confusing to setup, but a few minutes into watching a Youtube video or two did the trick for me. The cutting tool isn't the best so I just used a sharp knife instead.

The grip on these are excellent in our Pacific Northwest snow conditions. They've been amazing in powder, Cascade concrete, you name it. I haven't had any issues with the glue so far - stick well to the skis but doesn't leave residue.
