Cute, Warm, Light, but Some Issues
3 5

Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Fit: Runs small
Height: 5' 3"
Weight: 125 lbs
Size Purchased: Small

I was given this product from Backcountry, but this review Is my personal opinion. The tawny port color of this Backcountry Silver Fork 750 Down Jacket is truly a gorgeous color, just as pictured. Warmth to weight factor is phenomenal, as mild-to-moderate wind and cold (30F) air have a difficult time penetrating through and it feels light as a feather. It also folds/deflates to taking up nearly no space, so it would be a wonderful addition to pack for a trip. That said, I would want something warmer for temps below. Breathability is just okay, as it did start to feel a bit stuffy as I kept it on during a 1+ hour drive. I love the hood because it's perfect size for my (smaller) head and it doesn't fall in my eyes nor blow back down in the wind. My real issues with this jacket are 1) the weird, short length of the sleeves and 2) the zipper that won't let me out of the jacket. As for the fit, I am a true small (5'3", 125lb) and I received a Small. There is a caveat when purchasing that says the product runs slightly small. I would draw a line through 'slightly,' because I think I'd need a full size up to truly be comfortable in this jacket. At this size, I am not really able to layer anything under (maybe over). The sleeves are abnormally short compared to other jackets so that it just reaches my wrist. It's not TOO short, per say. I am just used to every sleeved clothing I own being actually (too) long, so it's unique. If you like sleeves that just fit, the Backcountry Silver Fork 750 Down Jacket might be for you! Last thing- the zipper: it's just not a good zipper. During first wear, I got stuck in the jacket several times. During second wear, the zipped zipper separated. It's fine now--just took me a couple of minutes to line the zippers back up. I'm interested to see how long the jacket will last, because the jacket shell material is really nice--just that pesky zipper!
