Alex Goulden's Bio

Originally from the East Coast, Concord, MA, to be exact, but have traveled around the world, with two highlights being an 82-day expedition in Patagonia, and the other a 77-day expedition in New Zealand (Southern Island). My passion for skiing and being outside brought me West to Backcountry and the Wasatch Mtns. I hope to continue to travel and try and live an active lifestyle, with enjoying it all along the way.

Patagonia has found a way to pair universal and classy all in one, with some cozy comfy feel thrown in there as well. Love the style, and the feel. Not nearly as baggy as the classic synchilla, but still get a lot of the same comfort, with a more stylish look that you could wear around the city or as a top going out to dinner or something like that.

These T's are incredible! Super comfy, stylish, and breathable! They get all of their design ideas from expeditions they go on, and try and bring back a part of the culture, and incorporate it into their shirts.
Great vibe, and cool feel.

SAXX are changing the game out here in the underwear world. They have come up with the Ball Park Pouch, which provides superior comfort to any other pair of athletic or stretchy boxer briefs I have ever owned (yes I do have a review saying the Capilene Daily Boxer are my daily drivers), however since I have found SAXX I do prefer them, but the Daily's aren't a bad alternative.
These things are comfy and very breathable. I'd highly recommend a pair. Work as a great gift too!

First of all just the comfiest shirts out there. Killing with the fit as well, and definitely have a really cool feel, and vibe to them. The guys at Roark are killers, they basically go on expeditions around the world for inspiration for their clothes, and they always come back with some really cool designs. These shirts are worth every penny.

Such a classic boot, very stylish, and has a bit of a break in period due to the leather of course. Easy on and off, looks clean around the city, ladies love em, so keep that in mind guys! a little pricey but worth every penny.

Things sick, great for golfing or chilling around town, very business casual. It's a clean cut shirt that fits true to size and breathes very well. A little pricey, but the cut is great and the shirt will definitely last a long time.

I personally find Patagonia to make some of the most comfortable clothing out there, and I can just throw this on in the morning, and feel comfy and confident for whatever the day has in store. Not the best for athletic activity cuz it doesn't dry fast, and its made of cotton. Definitely, a great shirt to kick back and relax in.

Sirt fits very well, a little on the baggy side, but nothing crazy, like the XXXL tees you may see around the park skiing from time to time... well atleast in the East Coast you still see them a good amount. Soft material, pretty breathable, and just comfortable.

Gamechanger sunglasses! If you are looking for the real deal glasses, these are for you. Handmade in Italy, the lenses will blow you away the first time you put them on. It was like my vision got an upgrade, I couldn't believe it! Also really nice touches, with the GEKO pads, and they are incredibly lightweight.

Great for any outdoor activity that you may be getting a lil sweaty doing.

Just your classic Patagonia T, well designed, got a great selection of colors and fits nicely. An easy shirt to throw on for a day on the beach, going down to the river or the lake, or spending some time paddling casually. I think they may have updated the fit to make it sit a little higher on the shoulders. At least for me, I can feel the seems on the shoulders a little more than my previous ones, but that could just be from ware and tare.

As far as polos go, I find that some fit kind of odd, due to the stitching, and how the seams are designed. But this guy fits like a glove, just easy and simple, doesn't hang too low, or have the collar too tight around the neck. Very sleek look, and very comfy while out on the course. Great casual around town shirt as well.

These are sweet man! they got a built-in compression short, so you are ready for any activity. I love to wear them for hiking, and then an easy transition to getting in the water. But seriously man these are made incredibly well, they have little slits at the bottom, so your strides aren't ever interrupted. All the pockets have zippers on them, so you know your personal stuff isn't going to fall out on a trail run or hike.

The thing is awesome, I basically live in it now. It's lightweight, breathable, perfect for springtime, the hoods nice and soft, and kinda small. Perfect for traveling. I am 6'3" and about 205lbs and I got the XL and it fits perfectly. Another nice touch to it is the UPF 50+ rating.

This stove is awesome, it is really easy to use, and has a quick learning curve. The assembly and take down is very smooth, and a lot of them come with a repair kit included, which is super helpful if you have to do some repairs while in the Backcountry. Also packs up very small, so doesn't take up much room in your pack.
Also even though it doesn't promote it you can simmer the flame with this stove. Once you've primed the stove and have the flame burning the nice blue, you can turn the stove off by turning the valve all the way down, and then you can depressurize the bottle by quickly loosening the top of the MSR fuel bottle a bit, just a tad, until you hear the noise, and then tighten it back up, and relight your stove, and you have a nice simmer to cook with.
I've taken this stove on two long expeditions, and 82-day expedition in Patagonia - Mountaineering, and Sea Kayaking, and then another expedition in New Zealand, whitewater canoeing, sea-kayaking, and backpacking.
If you have any questions about this stove, please feel free to reach out, I am happy to help!

I like the idea behind the design that Pow has for these gloves. The flip up, and off ,of the top of the mitten, provides some great versatility. It gets a little interesting with the zipper on top, which does help here and there with getting the glove on and off, especially if you have fat fingers, but personally, I think they could of added some elastane material, and the problem is essentially solved.
I typically run pretty warm when I am skiing, I do charge relatively hard, so having a glove made mostly of fleece just isn't what I am personally looking for, while skiing. I do think they will be better in the spring skiing conditions, when it is already hot out, and I don't have too many layers on, and simply am out to have some fun spring laps.
The design has some other interesting parts to it, like the loops on the bottom of the thumbs, and then there is a loop on top of the middle finger, I haven't quite figured out what the best use is for this yet.
I do like that the NikWax was included, so I don't have to run to the store to get that and apply it, to waterproof them, but I personally haven't found NikWax to work too well on fleece. Other than that the 35% off backcountry was running them for was a great price, and I keep them handy in my truck as a backup pair at the moment.

I got to test out these bad boys thanks to La Sportiva, and I have initial impressions, but my size 13 fit me true to size, I have a pretty regular foot, except for the fact it is a size 13, no high arch or anything, and not a super wide foot. The tread on them is solid, definitely grips well, even on slick rock. I think they take a little getting used to, as far as having them feel comfortable to walk around in.
I would recommend them for like a week long backpacking trip, but not super practical as a day to day shoe. Just my opinion.
