Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Fit: True to size
This is a really solid looking coat. The combination of down and other insulation makes it a little heavier than a typical down jacket, but if you don't care it makes up for it with features. It has a nice expedition look to it if you want a solid looking piece of gear to wear around town and out for dog walks. On the hill it also seems like it would be plenty warm, but maybe not the warmest down jacket out there. The removeable hood is nice, but also adds extra hardware that adds weight and bulk around the neck. Still, the hood works great and the jacket looks nice with it off as well. The removeable hood can lay flatter than other hoods because the neck flaps detach from the collar.
I was looking for a lightweight packable down jacket, and while this can be packed down, it wasn't exactly what I had in mind. The Marmot Guides is still hands-down the best jacket in the price range.
