While most lightweight backpackers wouldn't consider the talon 44 "UL", I think it strikes a great balance between being lightweight and having too many bells and whistles.

Pros:
The fit is easy to dial in and the extra hipbelt padding on the new version is quite comfy. The side pockets are easily accessible with the pack on, and the side straps can be routed underneath. Zippered bottom compartment makes getting to pack contents less of a headache. The new backpanel breathes well and provides a bit of rigidity along with the aluminum frame. Spacious - with a 9 lb baseweight I can use this for multinight trips and am even able to fit in a BV450 or a sixpack.

Cons:
The shoulder strap pocket could be bigger. The stretch mesh on the pockets can be a bit delicate for bushwhacking, but have held up to PNW winter/spring trips so far. Hipbelt connection starts to sag at heavier weights (i.e. 35+ lbs)- it performs best in the mid 20's and below.

Overall, the Talon series has become my go to for most trips, from dayhikes to lightweight backpacking. Definitely recommend it!
