Play it cool.
Instead of battling the airlines head-on, resort to guerilla tactics with the Pro-Lite Timmy Reyes Signature Smuggler Travel Surfboard Bag. It has room for three boards, but it contains a false bottom so that the people running the bag-check only see two boards, no matter which side the bag is opened from. This way, you can save some cash on baggage fees and have more for spending on post-surf brews.
Burly 600D polyester construction protects against scratches and scuffs, and 10mm Air-Lite padding shields your boards from aggressive luggage handlers. A rail guard and reinforced nose add extra insurance. Ventilation keeps your boards from getting warped in the heat when they're on tropical tarmac, and non-corrosive zippers won't get crusty from coastal travels. Multiple pockets help you stay organized, and the padded shoulder strap allows for comfortable carrying.

Not as Advertised
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
If the gate agent opened the zipper all the way- they would absolutely see three boards. The so-called false floor is just an extra layer that doesn't cover the tip of the third board. A great three-board bag on its own- no reason to slap some marketing gimmick onto it. In terms of quality, padding, # of pockets, it's great. I returned it for the cheaper Rhino Double travel bag.
Great Surfboard bag
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
This is a great board bag that is durable and very protective. The only down side is that it does not completely open up on earthier end making it just a little difficult to access and pack. That being said I bought this bag so I can sneak an extra board onto Jet blue flights which charge $50.00 per board. Also Delta flights allow a maximum of 2 boards per bag, and this helps me sneak a third when necessary.
