For the darkest places on earth.

Whether you're exploring claustrophobic caverns, climbing big walls after sunset, or heading out on dawn patrol, the Princeton Tec Apex Pro Headlamp has you covered with its astounding illumination and ultra-light, yet robust design. More than 100 grams lighter than the standard Apex Headlamp, the Apex Pro is designed for light-and-fast missions where every ounce is crucial. 275 lumens of brightness projects a beam up to 120 meters away on pitch-dark nights when skies are obscured by clouds. It's fully waterproof to IPX-7 standards, surviving one-meter submersion up to 30 minutes.

The Apex Pro features four lighting modes within two distinctive beam patterns. Ultrabright projects a wide beam that's great for pitching tents, fixing items, and concentrating on difficult tasks in low lighting. Maxbright casts a highly concentrated, longer-reaching beam for trekking along dark trails and wayfinding at night. Maximum battery life is 35 hours on the lowest Ultrabright setting. LED indicators provide remaining power output, so you're never stranded in the wilderness without any light.

    Super bright headlamp

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this headlamp after hearing about it as the preferred headlamp to use from a pro endurance mountain biker, and asking what he uses for long multi-day endurance rides during cold winter races. It has not disappointed. I have used it to ski down from the condo to the ski lift for before sunrise starts to volunteer work on a ski race course. My friends who forgot their headlamps were able to see the way with just my headlamp leading the way. This headlamp has gotten so many compliments about how bright and easy to see I was skiing my way in through the dark. For early morning ski area skins, I will definitely use it as it makes me easy to see while slowly skinning up. The battery pack does make it bulky on some helmets (my ski and bike helmets don't have a headlamp notch to hold a headlamp in place like my climbing helmets have). I've gotten in the habit of putting this headlamp in my ski or bike bag so it's always available should I need it.

    Faulty from the beginning

I purchased this gear for camping and it came with two batteries installed. On the first night - the unit did not function. I brought a back-up and used that for the trip. I assumed it was the batteries and replaced them when I got home and the unit worked. However, the brand new batteries were drained in 24 hours with out any use. Unfortunately, I was past the 30 days to return and now I have to deal with warranty issues. Don't buy this brand.
