Why We Like The Pret Fury X Mips Helmet

Park City's own Pret Helmets Fury X Mips Helmet certainly stands out as the no-compromise performance helmet choice for us and many people we see around the Wasatch. The ACT polycarbonate shell functions as two separate pieces that overlap in the crown of the helmet to create a double-layered halo for increased strength. The burly shell construction is paired with M.I.P.S. technology which redistributes energy resulting from an impact. These structural features are complemented by a slew of practical features, such as integrated venting with an open and closed toggle to keep you comfortable for endless laps on your favorite chair.

  • Performance ski helmet is comfortable all day long and easy to use
  • RSC micro-adjustable dial lets you dial in the perfect fit quickly
  • Integrated goggle clip keeps your eyewear secure as you slash pow
  • ACT shell construction implements reinforced areas for durability
  • Magnetic fidlock closure is easy to operate with a single gloved hand
  • M.I.P.S. technology displaces energy from impact in multiple directions

Great helmet

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Size Bought:

I originally purchased this helmet in the orange storm and returned it to swap out for the primer grey. A couple of quick nitpicks aesthetic things I noticed that have no bearing on performance, but that I wish I'd known before ordering. On the Orange Storm helmet the one I received did not have the orange stitching on the earflaps like in the photo (it was grey). The grey trim around the bottom back of the helmet and around the vents has a bit of a subtle green tint to it (thought it was a true grey). And the foam that you can see through the vents has bright/royal blue flecks in it. The same blue flecks are in the black interior foam showing through the vents on my primer grey Pret Fury X helmet as well. Not a big deal but I didn't expect any color in that foam. Again, no bearing on performance but things I wish I knew beforehand and would have saved me the return time and cost. Fit-wise, I do really like the fit. I currently have a Smith Maze MIPS and a Giro Ledge helmet both in Large and this Pret I picked up is a Large as well. When I first put it on it felt a little big, but the dial on the back took only a slight turn of a few clicks and it snugged up to a nice custom feeling fit. So it seems to be in line with sizing on those other brands from what I can tell. I really like the fidlock buckle. That is a plus I didn't know I needed but it's cool. I've tried it on with a few different goggles (Oakley, Spy and Wildhorn) and all seem to fit well with the brim, closing the gap. The bungee style goggle strap in the back has worked well so far, but I'm curious to see how it holds up over time since it's like a small bungee cord. The good thing is that I seem to have seen that this can be purchased as a replacement part if I'm not mistaken. So there ever is an issue it should be replaceable. The vents are nice on this one and I really like the adjustability. Never had that on any other helmets and it seems easy enough to work the switch. Style-wise, I do like this helmet. It has a great look and seems to be constructed well. I like that the liner covers the entire interior of the helmet. My Smith Maze is a MIPS helmet, and has thinner strips of padding on applied to the plastic MIPS liner that's mostly exposed. Overall this helmet seems just a bit more premium and well made with more thought to detail than the other helmets I've had. I'm definitely a fan and hope to be sticking with Pret next time I need a fresh helmet.

Comfortable, lightweight, high quality

Great helmet. It has a lightweight, high quality feel. The contour of the front of the helmet fit my glade goggles perfectly without any air gaps. So far it seems like a perfect new addition to the locker.

I love my Pret Fury X helmet

I've used it several times

Pret helmets fit so well, I can shake my head without the chin strap fixed and it stays on! A perfect combo of lightweight protection.

Wanted to love it

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Size Bought:

All the features, all the specs, super chill look...round fit. It's possible I have a large, oddly shaped noggin. This helmet seems to be a slightly round contour fit vs a traditional oval fit. I imagine it would have bothered me as the day got long. Other than that, I love the wool liner. Vents were easy to open/close as needed. Adjusting the helmet fit was super easy. It just didn't fit my head.
