Cynical safety.

There's nothing cynical about protecting your noggin with Pret's Cynic Helmet when you're skiing. Its in-mold shell shields your dome from harsh impacts so your family won't have to pick you up from the hospital all the time, and the wool blend lining offers winter-worthy warmth so you don't make your friends leave the resort early because you're cold.

Pret equipped the Cynic Helmet with VTT1 ventilation slits to pull cool air in and push warm air out. The RCS fit system uses a back dial to give you a snug, secure fit. The Covert ear pads are detachable for spring skiing, and there are slits inside the ear pads for audio systems. Pret recommends Outdoor Tech Chips audio systems.

Great helmet for an economy price

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Rated one of the best helmets for around $100. This is my son's 2nd year wearing a Pret and he really likes it. Light and comfortable. Still getting used to some of the color combos, but it gets a thumbs up.

Overall amazing helmet

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

*I have not used the helmet on the mountain yet so this is an initial impression*
This helmet is extremely light, it feels lighter than the listed weight I think due to it being the most balanced feeling helmet I have ever put on. The dial fit system Pret uses works well with no slip so far.
The profile of the helmet is not the most low profile Ive tried on but is more than most and does not look awkward at all and I would label it as low. I have had Zero issues with different goggle brand fit (only used 2 so far) one medium framed and one large over sized frame. The overall initial quality of this helmet is very very good and the simple. If you've never considered Pret you should be.
Also I bought the (matte) rubber black and compared to the pictures the logo is barely noticeable and the ear flaps are black not grey and blend in with the helmet well.
Backcountry is truly an amazing company and does put the customers first. Their policies trump every other online store in YOUR favor.
