Why We Like The prAna Stretch Zion Straight Pant

The straight-leg version of prAna's popular pant, the Stretch Zion Straight Pant features a performance stretch blend for hiking, climbing, and bouldering. The nylon-spandex fabric is abrasion-resistant, water-repellent, quick-drying, and stretchable, so we can tackle the trail or crag with confidence and a full range of motion. We also like the pant's adjustability—with a built-in belt to tweak our fit in the waist and hem snaps that let us roll up the legs for more of a 3/4 cut.

OG Stretch Zion pants are the bomb!

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer
Size Bought:
31/32

TLDR - If you're a fan of the OG Zions and want a straighter leg fit, just buy them. I was thrilled to see Prana go back to the original stretch Zion fabric after only offering the version II using that crappy re-zion fabric. I've worn Brions and Stretch Zions since 2016. I have probably gone through more than a dozen pairs because I lost a significant amount of weight over the years. I loved the OG Zions. These ones are even better. They are more form fitting, especially in the upper and lower leg. There's no billowing out around my ankles. I like the rubber coated zippers. Love the feel and fit so much I bought 3 pairs as soon as I could find them in my size. The colors are OK. The green is sort of a muted khaki tan/green, the "black" is more like a navy blue/dark gray which I actually like a lot. The sepia is a little more brown than the images online, which is fine for me. I wouldn't mind having a true black or true navy, but these will do for me. Regarding fit, I have the most recent OG Brions and Strech Zions from about 2 years ago. Both are 30/30 and fit me perfectly. With these new Zions, I tried 30/30 and they were too tight in the waist and too big on my ankles (floods). I returned them for 31/32s which fit fine. Actually 31/31 would be ideal, but alas, it's not an option. I recommend sizing up like a did for the best fit. I'm 5'8" and weigh 140 lbs. I'm lean with little bit of a lower belly (what can I say, I'm over 55 and once weighed over 200 lbs so I have no delusions of ever having a 6 pack). As for backcountry, I'm glad to have discovered them. I'd rather buy from them than Amazon and their shipping/price is as good or better than prana directly. ----- The pants had two problems that I fixed myself with a seam ripper. 1) The first belt loop on the right is double stitched, which means a standard 1.5" belt has to be jammed thru to fit. All my belts are Arcade 1.5" so I used a seam ripper to remove the top stitch. On my first pair, Suspected this was a manufacturing defect but it is apparently deliberate. 2) Two pairs were really hard to button/unbutton because the button hole was just a bit too small. I opened it a few millimeters with my seam ripper and now they work as intended. Attached is my crappy bathroom selfie with the gray/blue pants and a true black shirt so you can see the difference.

These are some of the best pants out there. I own multiple pairs because they are comfortable, come in great colors, and my wife loves the fit on me. What is the down side?

The original Zion has always been my favorite pant for hiking and climbing. I am psyched that prAna brought them back. The straight version withe the slimmer legs fits me perfectly.
