    You do it all.

Of course, the prAna Stretch Zion Men's Short would prefer to spend the summer navigating slot canyons and working on bouldering problems, but like you, it'll also welcome some day-time refreshments along with lunch with friends in the city. Its four-way stretch fabric delivers mobility and quick-drying comfort to handle crowded sidewalks and bustling national parks alike, while abrasion-resistant nylon withstands the abuse the comes with long rocky scrambles and brushy approaches through the brambles. Then, the ventilated free range gusset brings a refreshing level of breathable comfort through hotter days, and the mesh pockets pockets offer lightweight storage for your maps, wallet, keys, and snacks.

    • Adventure-ready short built to accompany you in versatile comfort
    • Stretchy nylon fabric offers blend of flexibility and durability
    • Fabric wicks moisture to prevent being bogged down with sweat
    • Regular fit and inseam gusset keep your range of motion natural
    • Integrated belt locks down the fit just the way you like it
    • Cargo pockets provide ample storage for smaller essentials

    Functional, durable, and comfortable

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 35x10
    • Height: 6'3"
    • Weight: 195lbs

I wear my Prana Zion shorts on every hike. They're light but strong. I've put them through some pretty grueling situations and they've held up well. They have just enough stretch to allow for maximum movement and the moisture wicking feature keeps the goods dry and comfortable - even in the desert.

    Favorite shorts, beware of sizing

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: 35"
    • Height: 6'3"
    • Weight: 185lbs

I now own 6 pairs of these shorts, favorite all time. Love the material, durability, stretchiness, function and look. My only problem has been with sizing. With the old sizing, XS-XL, Large fit me perfectly. I just ordered a few new pairs, and figured the 35' would translate well to Large. However, 35' is quite baggy on me, so I probably need to downsize to 34". I haven't worn 34" since I was 14 years old! I am 6'3, 185 lbs. Seems clear to me that Prana got the sizing wrong on these, so I recommend sizing down.

    Great shorts!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small
    • Height: 5'8"

These shorts are awesome. Durable and comfortable. I own the pants and now a pair of shorts. Prana does it right with the stretch zion. Great shorts to climb with or just lounge around in, plus they look good.

    Best Shorts Ever

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 166lbs

My go to shorts for every activity, casual to backpacking. Love the fabric, 12" length (which takes it to my knee), pockets, and gusseted crotch. I now own 5 pair in assorted colors.

Decent quality but not nothing special

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 35 inch waist
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 175lbs

I bought the pants version of these, which are great. The shorts are OK but nothing special and a bit too thick for shorts materials - there are better shorts out there for the price. The sizing is also a bit tight. I usually wear 34 inch waist but had to buy 35 inch in these.

    Do All Short

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

What else can I say about the Stretch Zion that hasnt already been said? Nothing. These shorts rock and you can wear them through a variety of different aspects. Casual fridays, mellow mtn biking, wet wading high alpine rivers and lakes, and of course hiking.

Do yourself a favor, get some.

    Classic Comfort

These cargo shorts have a classic look and are extremely comfortable. I would recommend the stretch Zion short to anyone looking for an adventure worthy short that still looks nice.

Newest addition to my Prana arsenal

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size

    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 130lbs

If you ever see me walking about SLC or the Wasatch, chances are I am wearing a pair of Strech Zions. After wearing a pair of my dad's hand-me-down stretch zion pants for a couple years, I picked up another pair as well as one of the winter versions. After falling even deeper in love with the Stretch Zion line, I decided Alex of the future will greatly appreciate a pair of Stretch Zion shorts come spring and summer.
I am psyched to wear these puppies on hikes through the Wasatch or or walks to the grocery store. They shoudnt dissapoint!

    This is my 6th pair!!

    • Size Bought: 32-34
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 195lbs

I can do anything in these shorts. I wont go anywhere without them. I can climb in them, hike in them and just go around town in them. Stretchy fabric comfortable everywhere and just all around amazing!!!

    Great shorts with fault

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 6'
    • Weight: 200lbs

Overall a 5 star. Superior comfort, roomy, and stylish. The front pockets keep my belongings in and I like the the included belt. I'm giving these a 5 even though the small side zipper never opened on the cargo pocket. The top zipper is all I need, but it would be nice to have the small zipper working.

    Famous For A Reason

prAna has been making some real strides lately in the clothing industry as the name Stretch Zion has become synonymous with popularity among us outdoorsy types. The short is a very well made outdoor option with stretchiness as claimed and quick drying material. The sizing is pretty close to normal at the waist and a bit smaller in the leg holes. Super versatile short for skinnier builds.

    Best Shorts ever

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I now will only wear these shorts. I have 4 pair.

    Bombdigity

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

My goto big hike or backpack shorts. Tried to wear out my first pair. Failed....so I bought another. These shorts take beating after beating and still show hardly any signs of wear. From multi day Sierra Nevada backpacking to desert scrub these shorts stay comfy, dry uber fast and refuse to tear or stain.

My 4th pair (5th is on order)

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love these shorts, and wear the brand/style at least 5 days a week during the spring and summer. I've always worn the 12in inseam. I finally got smart and ordered the 10inch (I'm 5'9"), and then I immediately ordered a second pair. I do have pretty sturdy and thick legs, and feel most comfortable in a 33inch waist. I ordered these in 33, but returned them for 34. With the cinch-down ability of these shorts, I highly recommend stepping up a size if you're on the edge of sizing. The return/exchange with backcountry was simple and quick. And after my last order, I actually got an email AND a personal call from Backcountry to thank me, and let me know that if I ever had any gear questions, to reach out to them. Nice touch, Backcountry.

    Nearly Perfect!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 32x12 and 33x12
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 188lbs

I have 32x12 and 33x12 in two different colors. My waist is 32 and one pair is snug while the other is slightly baggy. Both are cool with me, just two different fits.
Use: Indoor climbing (so far) and everyday wear.
    Pros:
Awesome material, stretchy but durable feeling.
Love the built in belt so I don't have to feel another belt under a harness.
Super comfy...I feel like I'm wearing pjs all day.
    Cons:
Very minor pilling after climbing indoors after 1 session. So far I think they'll hold up, but I'll keep an eye out.

Excellent shorts - light, comfortable and stretchy. I've never had any bad products from Prana, and this one has the high quality I've come to expect from them. Plus, they were on sale at Backcountry!

    Unanswered Question

I've got a pair of Larges from an earlier version. What size corresponds well to that? I wear a 34 - 36 depending on the pants (there is lots of variation these days).

    Unanswered Question

    color?
I ordered a pair in the indigo color and they look just like the blue ridge color from the photo. Are there two colors of blue, because mine are not indigo?

I love my size medium Zions, and they fit perfectly, but now they've gone to numerical sizing....do I want a 32 or 33 waist in the new regime?

I have the Prana Stretch Zion pants (love em) in small and they're still a little big, have to cinch the belt a little. I normally wear 30x30 pants, just wanted to know if the XS shorts would be TOO small. Any ideas?

Are any of the pockets zippered and if so, which ones? Is the belt removable?

The left side pocket is zippered (twice, actually, one facing up and one facing front - which is handy depending on if you are sitting or standing). The belt is not removable but it's very small and only shows in the front. Completely unobtrusive.

Can someone help me figure out my size, please? I wear the Prana Axiom jean in size 34 waist and 34 inseam. Some folks say these run large and some say these Zion shorts run small...

Can someone help me out? Do I need a Medium or a Large?

    Thanks!!

Kurt. Another Kurt here. I wear the Axiom 34 x 34 and the Theorem 34 x34. I have two pair of the Zion shorts, and both are Large. Fit the same as the 34 x 34 jeans. Measured the waist band with a tape measure, and they were identical +/- 0.25".

Just received a pair in Medium (my waist measures 33in over my underwear) and they are clearly too big. I can fit 2-3 finger widths in between but I can make them fit with the nifty built in belt. Is it worth exchanging for the a Small? The sizing chart shows a two inch difference in the waist. If it matters the Prana Mojo Mediums I ordered fit me perfectly. Thanks!

I wear a 28-29 short/jean. Will the small fit me? It's SO hard finding climbing clothing for my size!

    Mrwp269247,

    I know your pain.

I too have problems not just with climbing clothing, but with basically all clothing, as my waist sits right at that 28-29in mark.

That being said, I would go with the XS, I think the S would still be a bit too large for your waist, and you would probably have issues with the fit, as well as making them stay on while on the wall.

I've included a size chart I found on prAna's website, and according to them, you want to take your waist measurement and subtract 2" from that to determine what "prAna size" to get.

I notice that BC doesn't have any of that size in stock currently, so I would recommend chatting with a gear rep to see if they can find out when they will be receiving more sizes of the XS, if you do decide to go that route.

    Good luck, hope this helps.

How true to sizing are these? I wear 31's in most shorts/pants. The sizing chart shows S to be 30" whereas M is 32-33". Obviously, I fall in between. Don't want too baggy but I don't want my range of motion restricted either. Any help would be appreciated.

I wear a size 38" or XL in Kuhl, Outdoor Research,Mountain Hardwear and Patagonia. I just bought a pair of these in XL and although they fit, they're tighter than all others I have. I'm going to exchange for an XXL or more likely O.R. Ferrosi shorts which fit perfectly at XL.

    Hey David,

Even the if medium is a bit loose, these have an integrated belt that will allow you cinch down the short to whatever size you need, without looking weird. I have these shorts/pants and it's all I wear year round. I love them. You won't be dissapointed.

What is the color like on the charcoal? This site shows a black color, another site shows a lighter gray color. Thanks for any responses.

I have a pair, they like Matt says, they are Not black but a darker grey. It's actually a cool color, just picked up a 2nd pair. But definitely Not black, very dark grey. Would love to see-em in Black too. Great shorts, awesome shorts.

They are a darkish grey. Here is the color on the pants version. Same shade though. It seems a bit lighter than it normally is because of the lighting. Sorry, I'm a lousy photographer. Hope this helps though .
