    Not for me...

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 34X34
    • Height: 6'2"
    • Weight: 170lbs

I don't get the popularity of these pants. The fabric is the only positive - nice and stretchy, and a great weight for fall and spring hiking and summer climbs. That's where the positives end. What's not to like?

    (1) The fit is definitely not to my liking and is quite uncomfortable. If you like really low-riders with a short fly zipper, then this might work for you. Also, they fit great through the thigh but are too baggy at the ankle.
    (2) The pockets are made of a mesh-type fabric that almost instantly pilled out.
    (3) The side zip pocket is way low (nearly to my knee) and is barely large enough to fit my iPhone 6 (regular, not a plus).

If I was still inside the return policy timing, I would have returned them. If you want a pair, you might look in your local thrift store - that's where mine resides right now.

My favorite pant of recent years

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 33x35
    • Height: 6'3"
    • Weight: 195lbs

Dark ginger, 33x35 ~ true to size
What it is: A full length pant that stretches and moves as you move, breathable, convertible into 'capri' style shorts for climbing purposes
    What it ain't: Insulated, drafty
I bought these pants back in early '16 as I wanted to try something new to my regular jean-wearing lifestyle. Being my first pair of Prana pants, I didn't know what to expect save for the reviews and color. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised by these pants. While there are plenty of reviews for you to get the full details below, I feel the best things to know about these pants are that they're great for early spring-late fall (area dependent of course) and are great for active use - plus they have a solid storage system for all your gear and essentials! MY only recommendation is to limit washing machine use on the pants - the stitching and fabric of the pants can be delicate if put under too much stress.
    Thanks
    D

    Love 'em always

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: 35 34
    • Height: 6'2"
    • Weight: 230lbs

These are fantastic pants. I'm not normally the strechy pants wearing kinda guy, but my GF promised me I'd love them and I do. Lots of room for my big thighs, and they seem plenty durable. They do run a little large on the size chart. I'm notmally a 36waist 34 inseam. I've purchased both 36 and 35 waist. The 36 waist is just a touch bigger than I'm used to, but not a big deal with the pant's included adjustments. 35" with the 34" inseam was perfect.

    Just get a pair

Seriously, do it! You wont be disappointed.

I inherited a pair of these bad boys from my dad a few years back, and I'm still using them! I instantly fell in love with the supreme articulation given to these pants from the Stretch Zion fabric and the gusseted crotch. I've been thankful for the extra stretch in the pants on many occasions, most notably when heel hooking a high hold on the climbing wall, crawling under fallen logs while backpacking, and even just doing some improvised yoga.

The mobility, durability, and style make these my go to pant everyday since they are perfect for yoga and climbing in the morning, school in the afternoon, and work at night!

    Great Pants

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Height: 6'3"
    • Weight: 185lbs

Extremely comfy pants, constantly feels like you're wearing running pants. The stretch is amazing. Very relaxed fit.

    Pants

These are my favorite climbing pants. They are stretchy and well-fitted. I use them for bouldering, sport and trad. They have nice pockets for storage on multi-pitch climbs, and the roll up nicely for sport climbing (when I want to really see my feet).

Didn't live up to the hype

When I bought these I was looking for a durable, stretchy, slim fitting climbing pant. The Prana Stretch Zion didn't meet many of my expectations.

      Durability:

After a few approaches and a few pitches these pants started to wear through at the knee. I have attached a picture of about a month of moderate use. The side zipper also came sewn with fabric in it. This makes it difficult to zip up and down but it's probably a defect with this particular pair of pants.

      The Fit:

These pants are snug at the thighs and rear and loose and baggy at the ankle. If you are looking for a slim fitting pant with a straight leg then these are not it.

Didn't live up to the hype

      Great Hiking Pants

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 30x30
      • Height: 5'7"
      • Weight: 130lbs

These pants were a gift for my husband and he loves them. They are a medium weight and the stretchiness is perfect. The fit was correct. He is a small guy 30x30 was perfect.

      Love em!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Size Bought: 35 reg
      • Height: 5'10"
      • Weight: 185lbs

These pants are insanely versatile to say the least. My go-to for anything outdoors-- skating, climbing, hiking, camping, backpacking... the list never ends!

I went a size larger than I usually buy for streetwear since I wanted a little more range, luckily the built in belt mitigates that issue.

      Best Hiking Pant

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Height: 5'10"
      • Weight: 185lbs

These pants are awesome. The stretch fabric makes them great for hiking. They are also very durable, since they are used for rock climbing. I wear them for yard work and have gotten down in dirt ditches building a deck this past summer and they held up and were very comfortable.

      Best Hiking Pant

      Worthy of Praise

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Height: 6'2"
      • Weight: 170lbs

These pants are very comfortable and great for hiking. I wore my pair every day for a month-long backpacking trip, and they were possibly my favorite piece of gear I brought with me. They dry very quickly and the cinching waist is very convenient. Most stains can be rubbed out with water immediately after spilling (only stain they have is fuel that I didn't wipe off right away). They make great pants for hiking, casual wear, or travelling, and I will almost certainly buy more pairs in the future.

A friend of mine told me that these were the best pair of pants he's ever owned, and that I'll never have to buy a different pair ever again, and so far, I believe him.

My wife says these are my Uniform

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 33x32
      • Height: 6'0"
      • Weight: 206lbs

I have 3 pair of these and love them. I am 6.5ft 200-215lb, athletic build with bigger thighs and butt and these fit me perfect. I have the 33x32. I have a few buddy's who also have multiple pair. Perfect in every season and for every occasion. I only wash them once a month and they always look new. Breathable, flexible, and everything else good. Only con would be that I'd like the leg opening about a 1/2"-1" smaller for a more tailored fit but I'm guessing they are that wide for hiking boots etc.

      Dad Loves Them

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: True to size

After having the Stretch Zion shorts, my Dad got a pair of the pants for Christmas and loves them. The fit and feel is great and he loves the breathability. But, he says they're not good for colder-weather use - strictly late-spring through early-fall.

      Have 6 or 7 pair.

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 33 X 33
      • Height: 5'10"
      • Weight: 165lbs

Between these, the convertibles and the shorts, I have a bunch of the stretch Zion pants. They are so good, I'm afraid nothing else could meet my expectations. I waffle between a 33 inch waist and the the 32. Either one works for me.

      Name Your Adventure Pants

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 30
      • Height: 6'2"
      • Weight: 168lbs

These are some of the most versatile pants I have been able to find anywhere in any country. The design thinking that went into these at every level, from pocket placement to reinforcements to usability to breathability- these are simply the best you can find for a huge range of activities (or non activities).

I have a pair that I wear on rock to keep track of the wear and a pair I use on adventures, and a 3/4 pair for really hot days on rock. They all go great at work, a date, dinner, or just lounging.

The waste fit and use of the belt loops plus the built in cinch is by far the handiest part for such a pant. Buy them and you'll wear them and love them like everyone else who has them.

      ⛰️⛰️⛰️

      great, but baggy

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
      • Fit: True to size

These used to be my go to rock pants, very durable, love the stretch. The current ones are baggier below the knee, not a fan.

      So comfortable!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 34x32
      • Height: 5'10"
      • Weight: 180lbs

These pants are great and fit true to size. I love these pants and hope to add more to the collection. Great for everyday use, or for hiking, rock climbing ect.. No restriction at all with the stretchy materiel. Has convenient pockets as well. Would highly recommend to buy more then one!

A stated by a few reviews these pants now run slightly longer. Can this be confirmed by more people/gearheads before I place my order?

For reference, I typically wear 32x32 and the 32L usually drags on the floor for me but I like the look with shoes. However, I would not want it to drag too much like a 33L.

I had a chance to try at a nearby REI that did not have it available earlier. In my opinion, the length is, in fact, longer than a standard 32L. There is about the same amount of "crimple" found in other ~34L pants. The 30L's seemed more like a ~31L which is the size I will be getting.

      Unanswered Question

I'm usually a 29 waist, but these pants are only offered in a 28 or 30 waist size. Do people recommend that I get them a little small or large? I see that they have a belt of some kind, so I'm thinking large, but I want to make sure.

      Unanswered Question

      Hi,

I bought a pair in size S/32 a year ago and they fit perfectly. Would a 31/32 be a comparable fit after the change to numerical sizing? Also, is it true that they changed the fit to be baggier in the legs as another reviewer mentioned?
      Hope not, they were perfect...

Last year I bought Prana stretch zion pants with size M 32. but I noticed Prana Pants size system changed. So I wonder which size one I shoud choose for me. 32x 32 or 33 x 32?

Hey Bumtae - Prana did change their sizing for this year. I have an old L-34 and the 34x34 fit me best in the new Stretch Zions. There is still the adjustment strap in the waist so maybe the 33x32 will be best for you. Feel free to contact me directly with any additional questions.

      - Kyle L. - Expert Gearhead

I want to get my husband a pair of these. As long as I've known him, he's been 32x32 (medium) in every brand and everything, but Prana's size chart leads me to believe he'd need a small (waist size "30"). Can anyone verify or clarify this? He usually wears his pants a bit tight, but this might be due to his soccer player build.

I guess I'm wondering if all the reviewers who say it fits "true to size" mean according to Prana's size chart, or according to their normal size...these are obviously different.

      Hey Stella,

If he is a 32x32 get him a Medium 32. I am a 32" waist and wear a medium in these pants. I think the Prana size chart is a off for these pants. Let me know if you have any other questions.

What does the number indicate after the letter? Is that the inseam or waist? i.e. a S-30 will get me a waist of 32 but a length of 30 and a S-32 will get me a 32/32?

Any ladies out there that rock these for climbing (or otherwise?) I'm in the market for some climbing pants, not partial to mens clothes, but here they are, and one sale. .. men's prana has fit me in the past, just curious about ladies experience with these pants. thanks!

Thanks Jeremy! I'm aware of the Halle, hadn't seen it on sale, will consider- but doesn't come in brick and blue (what's with that!?). I have been partial to flashier colors lately, they're so much fun!

      Best Answer

Yes, I wear both the pants and shorts and love them! The shorts do look a little like you're wearing men's pants (they sometimes get some weird bunching in the front when I sit down) but I don't care because they're so comfortable and functional. I have a muscular posterior and can't stand women's pants that are so low rise. FYI, I'm 5'4" and wear a women's large in most pants, and the M-30 fits well...just a little long, so I roll them up a little.

I'm a short guy that typically wears a 28"-29" inseam. What are my options here, cuff the bottoms of a pair of 30"?

      Hi Raymond,

the 30" inseam is the shortest for the Stretch Zion Pant. I know a few people in your situation that have used a few different options. First you can always spend $10-$20 and get them professionally hemmed. Second option would be to buy some hem tape. There is either the iron on version or the super sticky version. Usually about $5.

Hi, these look great for my boyfriend who enjoys camping and climbing. He's 5'8, 135 pounds, 30" waist. Which size should I order?? thanks!

The small will definitely be on the looser/baggier side; I'm 5'11, 155 and a size small feels a touch loose on me. My boyfriend who's about the same dimensions as yours wears an extra-small and they fit him really nicely. Remember, these are stretchy. Hope this helps.

Are any of the pockets zippered and if so, which ones? Is the belt removable?

      Best Answer

      Hey!

So the cargo pocket on the left thigh has a zippered pocket. Zippered on top and on side for dual access.

      The belt is non-removable.

Does Prana make pants like this for ladies? A comparable pant?

I'm 5'9' 140 lbs, what size should I get? Pretty consistently a waist 32 across other brands. Sounds like prana has been changing up the sizing. My older prana pants from ~2005 say M on the tag, and I think it was either 32 or 30 inseam....they fit very well.

Did they change the fit of these pants...

Did they change the fit of these pants this year? I bought a pair last year that had a slimmer fit. I just bought the same size pair last month and they were baggy.
