    Great Climbing/Hiking Pant

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 30x34
    • Height: 6'1"

Super comfortable pant for climbing in the gym or going for hikes in the outdoors. I like the snaps that secure the pants when rolled up. If you are looking for a durable, stretchy pant for those types of activities these are the ones. I found that they run pretty true to size, maybe a little small in the waist compared to other pant's I wear in the same sizing.

    Love!

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size

My brother in law has these pants. Straight from the source: "Prana Pant Review: I love these pants. I pretty much wear them, and the several other pairs I have in different colors, practically every day. Comfortable, for great and true to size for me. Work great for a wide range of activities as I can wear them hiking and rock climbing as well as into the office for work. Only downside is that I usually get stopped when going through the airport because of the side pockets. The little extra pat down is totally worth it for how great these pants are."

    Extremely versatile pant.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 34x32
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 180lbs

    Durable, comfortable, stretch for activities.
Just amazing. I have big thighs and this accommodates me without being too baggy or long.
I'm buying a couple more sets.

the best pants I've ever worn

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 170lbs

These are, hands-down, the best pants I've ever worn. They are shockingly comfortable. The waist size is right on, and the small belt helps to keep them snug as you wear them. The gusseted and ventilated crotch is fantastic and keeps the pants from ever feeling constricted. They also repel water and stains very well. Lastly, the buttons at the bottom that allow them to roll up are just icing on the cake!

my favorite, but inseam is short

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 38X32
    • Height: 6'1"
    • Weight: 218lbs

I returned a pair of 38X30 as the inseam was too short, although I usually wear 30" inseam. Ordered the 30X32 and they are perfect, although 32" is usually too long for my legs. Most comfortable of the three I tried: Prana, NorthFace and Royal Robbins. I thought that the legs of the NorthFace and RoyalRobbins pants were too constraining for hiking. Prana is perfect for me. You may need to order a longer inseam that with your dress/casual pants.

    Super comfortable, love them

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 30 x 30
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 155lbs

I bought these pants a few months back at REI for a full price ($85 or so). It was an impulsive purchase to fill a requirement for a bonus gift card (and I needed some pants anyways). $85 was worth it to me, and I’m not a money spender, but if you can get these on a discount, I definitely would. Tried them on, and I’m sure I’ve never had better fitting pants. Bought them for casual use, with occasional hiking, and they are perfect for that, but I’m sure they’re perfect for strictly outdoor usage too. However, I would try to get a chance to try them on to find the right sizing (especially if your thighs are thinner than ‘medium/average’), because I had to go with a different sizing than with the other pants I tried on, although these fit better than them all. Now on to the pants:

At first I was ‘afraid’ to be fully comfortable with the pants, since the material had such a “fine” finish, and the front pockets are mesh (considering keys, etc), but after using them for a while, I’m getting more and more confident on the structure of these pants, and I’m sure these can take a real beating. The zippered side pocket (not mesh) has a “zipper lock” function, so the zipper only moves when the grab handle is pointing out - this is a great feature, you can be sure nothing makes its way out, and the pocket can also be accessed from two angles, making it easier accessible while sitting/standing. Not much to say about the back pockets, except that one of them has an overlap ‘flap’ over the opening to keep things more secure - Although I rarely use my back pockets, I’m glad they added this feature, and it looks subtle and nice. Legs can be buttoned up, but the buttons are also subtle, and nothing feels ‘in the way’ - a nice feature as well. There are ventilation holes up inbetween your legs - used these pants in chillier and warmer temperatures, and the vents seem to balance the air flow and regulate temperatures pretty nicely. Overall these pants are great, I’d say for everyday use, urban usage, travel, varied outdoor activities, and especially for a combination of these uses (I’d go for lighter colors if you’ll be using it in hotter temperatures, though, as with any clothing). The only con I have for these pants, which is not enough to remove a star, is that I find it a tiny bit of hassle to get inside my zippered pocket. This might just be me, though, not the pants. Happy thanksgiving 2018!

    Awesome Pants!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 40X34
    • Height: 6'6"
    • Weight: 260lbs

These pants are the most durable, functional pants I have found. They take a beating and keep on going. Climbing, hiking, working or hanging out ! They can do it all.

    Awesome Climbing Pant!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: 31x32
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 150lbs

I love this pant! If there's anything to complain is that it's little baggie. I prefer a more form fitting tight pant, but for a technical pant for climbing and hiking it is extremely comfortable and durable (not to mention very mobile).

A little baggy, otherwise solid choice

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: 33x34
    • Height: 6'2"
    • Weight: 195lbs

The ONLY thing I don't like about the Zion pant is that they are baggy! I would love a slim version of these. That said, you can easily layer under them when needed. They are comfy and and tough and that's probably more important than any fashion statements you are trying to make. Though the fact that they are a bit baggy will keep me from wearing them outside of trekking. I've owned many pairs and it's hard to go wrong with them.

    Perfect Hike Pant for Peru

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size

Got these pants for a gift for a friend going to Peru to backpack. These pants are great with stain repellent and has a breathable fabric. He loves them and they are perfect for his Peru trip. They fit true to size so no up or down sizing needed for these pants

    Greatest Hunting pants ever

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 32x34
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 155lbs

I picked up a pair of these to try for early season archery elk. They worked great, cut the wind nicely, breathed well during the climbs, provided perfect stretch and mobility, and were quiet enough to sneak in on elk without making any undo noise. I'm a convert, I'll be hunting in these until the snow falls.

    A pant for anything

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 33x32
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 180lbs

These are bomber! They are great for climbing, hiking, traveling, you name it. I have multiple pairs of these and love them!

    They've exceeded their value

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Size Bought: 32
    • Height: 6'2"
    • Weight: 200lbs

These pants are my go-to from biking in the city, to rock climbing, to fly fishing. They offer stretch room for my legs unlike most other casual pants and even have smalls buttons on the inside for rolling them up. Highly recommend these pants!

    Great pants

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 32/30
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 195lbs

I bought a second pair after living in my first for the past couple months. I just kept picking them over all my other pants/shorts. Perfect for everything.

Loved them so much I got another color

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 33 x 30
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 175lbs

I loved these pants so much that I immediately went and order another pair after not wanting to take my first pair of pants off all week.

    Durable and comfy!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 33x34
    • Height: 6'2"
    • Weight: 180lbs

One reason I bought these was because they were offered in size 33 waist. Their purpose is all-around use in Africa. That is, anywhere from hiking and biking to surviving day-long bus rides, to working in the office. They've completely fit the bill! They are stylish and professional-looking enough for a casual office, and rugged and comfortable enough for athletic activities.

My choice wasn't hinged on the features, for the most part, but I was pleasantly surprised with the adjustable waist, the thigh pocket that has a front zipper (surprisingly convenient when sitting on that crowded bus), and the roll-up cuffs with snaps (which I use for biking, so the pants don't catch in the gears). The durability has been great. I snagged them on a thorn once, which did pull some threads loose, but any pants remotely light and breathable would have fared the same. I've been pleased that the tiny rip didn't become bigger over time. Perhaps someday I'll patch it or something.

And finally, the pants look great. I normally wear baggier pants for the comfort, but the stretchy fabric here allowed me to go with these slimmer ones. They're really nice-looking and still comfortable.

    Favorite climbing pants

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 30x30
    • Height: 5'6"
    • Weight: 145lbs

Lightweight, durable, and flexible. They’re great for summer, spring, and fall. I like that you can order by waist and inseam size rather than Small, Medium, Large etc which never work well for me. I have two pairs of grey. They have a relaxed fit to them, so you can potentially go a size down if you want a slim fit.

    Favorite climbing pants

    Excellent pant, a little wide

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: 31x30
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 148lbs

Great material, waist and pockets. i just wish they were a little more tapered at the bottom for my skinny legs. if the cut was a bit more athletic it would have been 5 stars. Looking forward to wearing them for early elk season though.

A stated by a few reviews these pants now run slightly longer. Can this be confirmed by more people/gearheads before I place my order?

For reference, I typically wear 32x32 and the 32L usually drags on the floor for me but I like the look with shoes. However, I would not want it to drag too much like a 33L.

I had a chance to try at a nearby REI that did not have it available earlier. In my opinion, the length is, in fact, longer than a standard 32L. There is about the same amount of "crimple" found in other ~34L pants. The 30L's seemed more like a ~31L which is the size I will be getting.

    Unanswered Question

I'm usually a 29 waist, but these pants are only offered in a 28 or 30 waist size. Do people recommend that I get them a little small or large? I see that they have a belt of some kind, so I'm thinking large, but I want to make sure.

    Unanswered Question

    Hi,

I bought a pair in size S/32 a year ago and they fit perfectly. Would a 31/32 be a comparable fit after the change to numerical sizing? Also, is it true that they changed the fit to be baggier in the legs as another reviewer mentioned?
    Hope not, they were perfect...

Last year I bought Prana stretch zion pants with size M 32. but I noticed Prana Pants size system changed. So I wonder which size one I shoud choose for me. 32x 32 or 33 x 32?

Hey Bumtae - Prana did change their sizing for this year. I have an old L-34 and the 34x34 fit me best in the new Stretch Zions. There is still the adjustment strap in the waist so maybe the 33x32 will be best for you. Feel free to contact me directly with any additional questions.

I want to get my husband a pair of these. As long as I've known him, he's been 32x32 (medium) in every brand and everything, but Prana's size chart leads me to believe he'd need a small (waist size "30"). Can anyone verify or clarify this? He usually wears his pants a bit tight, but this might be due to his soccer player build.

I guess I'm wondering if all the reviewers who say it fits "true to size" mean according to Prana's size chart, or according to their normal size...these are obviously different.

    Hey Stella,

If he is a 32x32 get him a Medium 32. I am a 32" waist and wear a medium in these pants. I think the Prana size chart is a off for these pants. Let me know if you have any other questions.

What does the number indicate after the letter? Is that the inseam or waist? i.e. a S-30 will get me a waist of 32 but a length of 30 and a S-32 will get me a 32/32?

Any ladies out there that rock these for climbing (or otherwise?) I'm in the market for some climbing pants, not partial to mens clothes, but here they are, and one sale. .. men's prana has fit me in the past, just curious about ladies experience with these pants. thanks!

Thanks Jeremy! I'm aware of the Halle, hadn't seen it on sale, will consider- but doesn't come in brick and blue (what's with that!?). I have been partial to flashier colors lately, they're so much fun!

    Best Answer

Yes, I wear both the pants and shorts and love them! The shorts do look a little like you're wearing men's pants (they sometimes get some weird bunching in the front when I sit down) but I don't care because they're so comfortable and functional. I have a muscular posterior and can't stand women's pants that are so low rise. FYI, I'm 5'4" and wear a women's large in most pants, and the M-30 fits well...just a little long, so I roll them up a little.

I'm a short guy that typically wears a 28"-29" inseam. What are my options here, cuff the bottoms of a pair of 30"?

    Hi Raymond,

the 30" inseam is the shortest for the Stretch Zion Pant. I know a few people in your situation that have used a few different options. First you can always spend $10-$20 and get them professionally hemmed. Second option would be to buy some hem tape. There is either the iron on version or the super sticky version. Usually about $5.

Hi, these look great for my boyfriend who enjoys camping and climbing. He's 5'8, 135 pounds, 30" waist. Which size should I order?? thanks!

The small will definitely be on the looser/baggier side; I'm 5'11, 155 and a size small feels a touch loose on me. My boyfriend who's about the same dimensions as yours wears an extra-small and they fit him really nicely. Remember, these are stretchy. Hope this helps.

Are any of the pockets zippered and if so, which ones? Is the belt removable?

    Best Answer

    Hey!

So the cargo pocket on the left thigh has a zippered pocket. Zippered on top and on side for dual access.

    The belt is non-removable.

Does Prana make pants like this for ladies? A comparable pant?

I'm 5'9' 140 lbs, what size should I get? Pretty consistently a waist 32 across other brands. Sounds like prana has been changing up the sizing. My older prana pants from ~2005 say M on the tag, and I think it was either 32 or 30 inseam....they fit very well.

Did they change the fit of these pants...

Did they change the fit of these pants this year? I bought a pair last year that had a slimmer fit. I just bought the same size pair last month and they were baggy.
