    Comfortable but casually appropriate

These pants are insanely comfortable. the material is extremely soft yet sturdy. They are very styley, but they do have a boot flair if you are looking for a straight legged pant i'd look else where.
Plenty of room and forgivingness for all activities. I would go a bit longer in the inseam as they seem about 1 inch shorter than most of my jeans of the same length.

      Terrible climbing pants

I have high standards for gear, but these pants consistently did not meet my expectations or hopes, and I really can't see why everyone rates them so highly. All of my climbing/mountaineering friends also dislike them. They died in a year of use. Let's count the ways.

      1. They stretch out rapidly over time. I got the 28in waist for my ~29 in waist, and within six months the pants could easily fall past my butt. When climbing, this means that they were always falling below my harness, meaning blisters and rug-burn where the harness contacts my hips. The waist cinch was close to useless for countering this.

      2. They are not durable. Mine got holes in them rapidly from chimneys, offwidths, and squeeze chimneys. Some holes are fine and a cost of awkward styles of climbing. But once the holes got to a certain size, they then caught on manzanita bushes while approaching and immediately blew the entire knee out (see photo). These pants to not discourage ripping very well at all.

      3. Overall design is poor for climbing. Small things like the poorly positioned pockets (fine for hiking, bad for climbing) and even the buttons to hold the cuffs rolled up (which aren't useful and only get in the way when you want to wipe off your climbing shoes) mean that these pants really are annoying to climb in.

I really wanted to like these pants. But every time I put them on, I was annoyed with them. This included being mad at them on The Nose on El Capitan, the Bugaboos of Canada, and other alpine adventures. I put them through the wringer. But I wager they would be nice pants for hanging around town or doing low-impact hiking.

      Terrible climbing pants

      One of the best.

One of the best climbing pants. Durable than you imagine. Stretches nicely.
If you want a slimmer one, get the one that says straight. This one is more relaxed fit.

Hands down the best pair of pants for any outdoor activity. Only complaint is the price $84 is kinda ridiculous I think I payed like $55-60 a few years back, that was a fair price.

      BEST CLIMBING PANTS

I climb outdoors regularly, primarily in Yosemite, so these pants see a lot of wear and rubbing against granite rock. These are the best climbing and hiking pants I've ever had, the fabric is breathable yet strong and stretches well to feel super comfortable in all but the most extreme weather conditions. They prevent sunburn, mosquito bites, poison Ivy, and have light water resistant properties. There's a small "belt" tab on the waist you can pull to tighten the pants if needed, runs true to size but leans on the larger side (I wear 31 x 30 and I'd say the waist can be adjusted to anywhere from 30 - 31.5 depending on how much you pull the belt strap. There's also two clips to roll up the pants sleeve a quarter length, I use it all the time so I can wear long pants yet still have great breath-ability!

Best part is they usually have 25% or more off deals! Pick one up with a deal and you won't need another outdoor activity pants.

      Love it!

These are by far the most comfortable pants I've worn in a long time. They are super stretchy, yet look sharp. Look great with a ratty t-shirt or a nice collared shirt. Water rolls off of them, yet they are somehow a little breathable in the heat. I'm talking sweaty, humid, high temps, the pants don't seem stifling, which is a surprise. Only small negative is that the integrated belt-thing has a tail that hangs down. I just tuck over the waist band. Though nice to have an integrated cinch strap (not really a belt), and you can't see it if you wear them with an actual belt, so a small inconvenience for a great feature. All in all, highly recommended.

      Great pants!

Extremely comfortable and durable. Own two pairs of pants and two pairs of shorts. Cargo pocket can be pretty handy, especially considering it is zippered. I generally prefer a slimmer cut so my next pair will be Brions. All around, can't complain!

I've done hundreds of days in these pants. They breathe, they protect you in offwidths and cracks, and approaches. Super comfortable tightener strap so you dont need to wear a belt. Best climbing pants out there period.

I purchased these pants for my boyfriend who doens't really believe in pants. He's hte type of guy that wears shorts - no matter what season we are in. These pants are perfect for hiking and allows moveabiliy while on the trail. These pants are breathable and stay dry in light rain storms. The material is super easy to clean up. If you get mud on your pants, wait until it dries and brush most of it off. These pants are also great to throw on a button up shirt and still look great for semi-formal events - without having to be stiff all night.

I got these for my fiancé and he likes them a lot. The stretch makes them amazing for hiking, rock climbing, or relaxing, yet the material is tough enough to stand up to a good amount of abuse. He is 5’9” 160lb and has the small, which fits just about right.

Insanely comfortable but stretching a bi

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love these pants mostly due to the fabric. They perform better than most in warm conditions and do OK in cold conditions. The fabric repels water a bit, dries quickly and is easy to clean while traveling. My only issue is that the size I bought was perfect at first but after a few months they are a little big so the fabric does seem to stretch a bit over time. It's not terrible, but noticeable. Also, these particular pants are pretty wide at the bottom of the legs so be aware of that if it will bother you.

I own two pairs of these pants, and I love them! They fit loosely and comfortably, and you have lots of room for movement with the stretch material. I've done everything from long hikes to mountain biking to European travel in these pants.

I will make a pitch for these as an EXCELLENT pair of travel pants! They are comfortable for plane rides and the side zip pocket is an excellent secure place to store documents such as your passport.

These pants feel great and the sizing was spot-on. However, the first time that I wore them out in the woods, I was crossing over a deadfall and snagged the area behind the right knee which created an 8 inch rip. I bought these because of all of the great reviews, and I didn't expect them to be indestructible, but they are definitely not what I had hoped they would be.

      Super comfortable!

These are great pants. super comfortable. fit perfectly. lots of useful pockets. great for hiking or going to town.

A stated by a few reviews these pants now run slightly longer. Can this be confirmed by more people/gearheads before I place my order?

For reference, I typically wear 32x32 and the 32L usually drags on the floor for me but I like the look with shoes. However, I would not want it to drag too much like a 33L.

I had a chance to try at a nearby REI that did not have it available earlier. In my opinion, the length is, in fact, longer than a standard 32L. There is about the same amount of "crimple" found in other ~34L pants. The 30L's seemed more like a ~31L which is the size I will be getting.

      Unanswered Question

I'm usually a 29 waist, but these pants are only offered in a 28 or 30 waist size. Do people recommend that I get them a little small or large? I see that they have a belt of some kind, so I'm thinking large, but I want to make sure.

      Unanswered Question

      Hi,

I bought a pair in size S/32 a year ago and they fit perfectly. Would a 31/32 be a comparable fit after the change to numerical sizing? Also, is it true that they changed the fit to be baggier in the legs as another reviewer mentioned?
      Hope not, they were perfect...

Last year I bought Prana stretch zion pants with size M 32. but I noticed Prana Pants size system changed. So I wonder which size one I shoud choose for me. 32x 32 or 33 x 32?

Hey Bumtae - Prana did change their sizing for this year. I have an old L-34 and the 34x34 fit me best in the new Stretch Zions. There is still the adjustment strap in the waist so maybe the 33x32 will be best for you. Feel free to contact me directly with any additional questions.

I want to get my husband a pair of these. As long as I've known him, he's been 32x32 (medium) in every brand and everything, but Prana's size chart leads me to believe he'd need a small (waist size "30"). Can anyone verify or clarify this? He usually wears his pants a bit tight, but this might be due to his soccer player build.

I guess I'm wondering if all the reviewers who say it fits "true to size" mean according to Prana's size chart, or according to their normal size...these are obviously different.

      Hey Stella,

If he is a 32x32 get him a Medium 32. I am a 32" waist and wear a medium in these pants. I think the Prana size chart is a off for these pants. Let me know if you have any other questions.

What does the number indicate after the letter? Is that the inseam or waist? i.e. a S-30 will get me a waist of 32 but a length of 30 and a S-32 will get me a 32/32?

Any ladies out there that rock these for climbing (or otherwise?) I'm in the market for some climbing pants, not partial to mens clothes, but here they are, and one sale. .. men's prana has fit me in the past, just curious about ladies experience with these pants. thanks!

Thanks Jeremy! I'm aware of the Halle, hadn't seen it on sale, will consider- but doesn't come in brick and blue (what's with that!?). I have been partial to flashier colors lately, they're so much fun!

      Best Answer

Yes, I wear both the pants and shorts and love them! The shorts do look a little like you're wearing men's pants (they sometimes get some weird bunching in the front when I sit down) but I don't care because they're so comfortable and functional. I have a muscular posterior and can't stand women's pants that are so low rise. FYI, I'm 5'4" and wear a women's large in most pants, and the M-30 fits well...just a little long, so I roll them up a little.

I'm a short guy that typically wears a 28"-29" inseam. What are my options here, cuff the bottoms of a pair of 30"?

      Hi Raymond,

the 30" inseam is the shortest for the Stretch Zion Pant. I know a few people in your situation that have used a few different options. First you can always spend $10-$20 and get them professionally hemmed. Second option would be to buy some hem tape. There is either the iron on version or the super sticky version. Usually about $5.

Hi, these look great for my boyfriend who enjoys camping and climbing. He's 5'8, 135 pounds, 30" waist. Which size should I order?? thanks!

The small will definitely be on the looser/baggier side; I'm 5'11, 155 and a size small feels a touch loose on me. My boyfriend who's about the same dimensions as yours wears an extra-small and they fit him really nicely. Remember, these are stretchy. Hope this helps.

Are any of the pockets zippered and if so, which ones? Is the belt removable?

      Best Answer

      Hey!

So the cargo pocket on the left thigh has a zippered pocket. Zippered on top and on side for dual access.

      The belt is non-removable.

Does Prana make pants like this for ladies? A comparable pant?

I'm 5'9' 140 lbs, what size should I get? Pretty consistently a waist 32 across other brands. Sounds like prana has been changing up the sizing. My older prana pants from ~2005 say M on the tag, and I think it was either 32 or 30 inseam....they fit very well.

Did they change the fit of these pants...

Did they change the fit of these pants this year? I bought a pair last year that had a slimmer fit. I just bought the same size pair last month and they were baggy.
