Weird fit and strange size shift

I used to wear medium in these shorts, and I’ve worn them for 5 years. I’ve taken them everywhere and done it all. Even did an entire year of hot yoga with them... and went to India for a summer... and did many other adventurous things. Now, the medium is huge! It’s a large size. Not only that, but the fit of these short has changed. The legs sort of puff out a little bit like swim trunks instead of falling straight down the leg. I tried sizing down to small by returning the product, but they still fit awkwardly. I wonder why Prana would change a product so much and not change the name? Two returns because of returning both sizes ($6.99 per return), plus $1 to print the label each time. I will just continue to wear my old shorts. They’re still going strong after 5 years....

Let me tell you these shorts are amazing. Extremely comfortable and flexible a well as breezy enough for Yoga or just hanging around the house. these have the perfect amount of stretch and I love the fabric. 10/10 would recommend.

Read all the reviews and have been looking to try a pair for awhile, was somewhat disappointed in them, for a pair of shorts that is supposed to be great for climbing and yoga I expected them to be more elastic. I have found these have very little stretch in them and find them a bit confining. I do love the look of them and the feel, they are nice and thin and dry quickly, maybe I need to try the next size up as they do tend to run small which is pretty common with Prana products

Love these shorts. Bought a second pair because my baby spit up on my "mud" ones. Waste band doesn't show if you wear a shirt. Comfortable and flexible. The are a bit shorter than other shorts.

These shorts are as great as everyone say, for everyone! For fit on women, I’m usually a women’s medium and the men’s small of these shorts fit well. My friend is usually a women’s small and the x-small fits her well!

These are a good "any activity" short. The only thing keeping them from 5 stars for me is the waistband fit was just a little off. It almost felt like the band was too loose and would slide down, but it never did.

I wear these for everything! they're very durable and light, I've climbed many pitches in them and have yet to tear a hole in them. They are definitely the most comfortable shorts I own. The back pocket is super nice since it has a hook and loop closure on it and i feel confident that my wallet wont fall out of them. the waist band does a great job holding them around your waist even when they're loaded down with your phone, wallet, and keys.

I tend to wear shortish shorts most of the time, but with a harness on they are often not ideal. thus the Mojo fills its space in my wardrobe. They are so lightweight and have plenty of space so there are no tight spots of resistance on high foot placements or any other similar movement. The large elastic waistband is extremely comfortable as well. All in all a great lightweight and durable pair of climbing shorts especially on the warmer days at the crag or boulder field.

I love the Prana Mojo shorts. I have been wearing them since their introduction, and they have never failed to be my go to short for being outdoors, or just lounging when it's warm. Elastic waistband is really comfortable for long car trips or climbing.

I'm about 6ft and 207lbs presently with a 34-35 inch waist, and I got a few pairs of these at this point. I use them as a casual short for around the house mostly, but I could seem them used anywhere an elastic waist gym shorts would come in handy. They are light and comfortable, and come to just the top of my knee.

Got these for my boyfriend and he absolutely loves them. They are a good short for any activity and I have been told that they are super comfortable. They dry quickly and are light weight. I will probably even have to buy him another pair he likes them so much!

I like the Mojo's a lot, I use them to hike, run, workout, play basketball, I'm not a climber but people tell me they are great for climbing too. Best climbing shorts...ever

These are hands down the best pair of shorts for bouldering. I wore one pair for 7 years before the butt wore out and ripped. I probably won't ever wear another pair of shorts for bouldering, these are perfect. I'm 5'8 with a 29 inch waist and the small is perfecto.

Looks like a cool concept, but...any reports on that waistband? Looks like what I'd use for underwear. With no apparent belt provision, that better be one heavy duty elastic there.

The waistband is nice and rather wide so if will hold your shorts up if that is what you are concerned with. Due to it being elastic if you fill the pockets with rocks you may be sporting some crack or lose them completely.... I have bought several of these for the guys in my life and they are all really stoked on them.

Heard great things about these. Sad to find out that the smallest size, XS, is made for a 30 in. waist. Wish I could buy a pair for a 28 in. waist.

Idk... The reviews are nearly unanimous that they fit true to size... A small on the size chart says a 32" waist which is 4" larger than my waist size in jeans. I really don't want to spend $50 on a pair of shorts that may or may not fit.

My husband has two pairs of these that he uses for climbing and swimming. He's never had them come off while diving or swimming a class II-III rapid. I don't think he's ever body-surfed in them though. These are his favorite shorts.

I am not sure if you are asking about the Stretch Zion in your post or the Mojo short that this post is attached to. The Stretch Zion seem to run a little bigger, I wear a 30/32 jean and I fit in a small St. Zion. As for the mojo I would definitely size up. I wear a medium in the mojo and I like the way they fit.

These do not, but I know Columbia makes some pretty great shorts with mesh liners.

Does the waist band stretch out over time? I'm deciding between a large and extra large, both of which fit and stay up, but I'm worried the extra large will stretch over time and not stay up as well.

Haven't had any issues with my stretching. The band is pretty wide so I reckon it'd take a lot of stretching action to ruin the band.

Nope, gotta put your faith in the elastic band on these puppies..so if you want to wear them on land and sea they'll be great..if you dive however, well I just don't recommend doing that in these, unless you're going for the exhibitionist look when you emerge from the depths..sans Mojo shorts. For something like that you might be better off w the Stretch Zion, a cotton blend that will still dry pretty quick.
