They feel nice, the color looks good, and they fit great for longer legs. I like that they aren't super skinny in the legs either. Nice relaxed fit for a womens shape.

After 1 or 2 wears these pants fit me perfectly and are especially helpful for longer legs where I can adjust the cuff to my desired length! I ordered the same size in colors Dark Mud and Dark Muave and they both fit me very similarly. Material in on the thinner side, soft and comfy.

I got the Indigo last year and loved them, so I decided to order the Volcanic Plum and Dark Mud in the same size this year. The Volcanic Plum fit great, but the Dark Mud were SO tight I couldn't even button them! I love the look/fit of these pants (when they fit), but beware that the sizing is not consistent for each color.

So true, the color and sizing are inconsistent and can make for expensive return shipping. I love the length of the kara jean as I am 5'11 but certain colors are unreliable so I read everybody's reviews and wait for sales before I take the plunge. Thanks for your review. Its helpful to know its not just me.

Wtf Prana?

I’m not sure what Prana has been doing lately. I’ve had several pairs of these over the years, but this years are tuuuurible. I had to go up my normal size (I have not gained weight). So TIGHT on my bum, but loose at the waist. Don’t even get me started on the pant legs. So baggy beyond the knee. And the material is thin and crunchy. They look horrible. I’m so disappointed. I’ve already washed them (hoping they’d soften up) so I can’t return them. Two thumbs down. I’ve been a Prana fan for life but lately I have no idea how to order.

I had the exact same experience. They’re also nowhere near as stretchy as my many previous pairs of these jeans, which makes no sense because the materials are supposedly the exact same??

I had these pants for a few years. The first year I owned these pants I wore them here and there but they 're too long and super unflattering. Over the years they moved to the back of my closet - They sag too easily, if you have even relevantly short legs these just aren't going to work. They are also low rise which I've learned I am not a fan of. I live in a really active-oriented town so selling these for consignment was no problem.

Mud is a super cute color but not at allll worth fighting the sizing. I'm usually a true 10, including Prana bottoms, and wowowow they dont even begin to close let alone zip up. I doubt a 12 would begin to fit if I exchanged because there is zero stretch to the material like usual so thats a mega bummer.

I’m a fan of the Halle pant and can wear a 6 or 8. The 8 in the mud Kara pant was tight and no stretch. The material was scratchy and uncomfortable.

My wife loves these jeans so much, I had to get her a second pair. Excellent style and fit. They're "skinny jeans" (fitted cut) by nature but not restricting and uncomfortable. Definitely a worthy piece of casual wear.

Very cute and comfortable and the indigo is a nice medium-dark blue denim color. They are snug, but since they have spandex, I bought the tighter fit size so that as they stretch out during the day, they don't sag in the butt (I'm between sizes usually). I've had to do this with Lucky brand jeans. My only complaint is that they're a bit low, so that will accentuate the possibility of sagging between washes. Since many jeans are made that way, it's not a deal-breaker for me. The material is soft and nice, too. For sizing, I'm a cyclist/trail runner that does squats/lunges, so I don't have tiny thighs or calves;-)

Not a climbing pant

I purchased these pants after reading a couple of reviews that indicated they could be worn for a day of cragging, and other Prana pants I have purchased work well for climbing. However, these pants are not flexible or high waisted enough for any real climbing or physical activity. They ride low, so I'd feel like I was showing off my crack if I was going to try any real climbing moves in them. For reference, I have an athletic build with wide hips, about 150 lbs and 5'8". I tend to wear size 4-6 pants and in the past size 6 Prana pants have felt pretty loose. But because I'd read the reviews, I ordered a size 6 so they'd be roomy enough to move around in. The size 6 fit well on me and looked cute, but I wasn't trying to buy cute around-the-town jeans. I wanted something that would be comfortable and hold up after hours of rock climbing on coarse Joshua Tree granite.

I ordered these jeans in three colors: dark mud, volcanic plum, and black. I wasn’t crazy about the black— it was more of a dark charcoal color and kinda shiny so I returned those. But I really love both of the other two earthy colors so they are keepers :) I am 5’7” with a slim build and long skinny legs so have a hard time finding jeans that are fitted and long enough. Totally unrolled these jeans are the perfect length with a 33” inseam. The jeans run true to size—I got size 2, my usual size— unlike the Prana Kayla jeans which I had to get in size 0. You could do pretty much anything in these pants: bike, hike, climb, go out to dinner. They are nice and stretchy and keep their shape. Backcountry has the best prices, too!

Look Nice But Hate The Material

Familiarity:

These pants are really cute and flattering, but I hate the material. Any piece of lint or hair you come across during the day sticks to it like a magnet! I could not get the material clean after several washes, I only wore them once!

I bought these for my wife, so this comes from her. First off, they are fairly true to size, but they are made to be slim-fit, so expect them to be close fitting. The good part of this is that they are very flexible, allowing easy movement and are exceptionally soft, and so they are also comfortable. This makes them very useful for wearing to work or even on a light day-hike. Highly recommended!

I absolutely love these jeans so much I bought 2 pairs. They are super stretchy and comfy, but still hold their shape really well. Both green and black colors look awesome. They are on the long side but look great cuffed at the bottom so it works out well.

Adventure Ladies! If you are looking for a do-it-all, feel good, look good pair of pants; look no further! These are my third pair of Kara jeans, and I LOVE them. They are jeans I actually look forward to wearing because the material and stretch in the jean make them comfortable and easy. I will say that each color fits a little different due to stretch. The indigo fit really standard, although the dark grey ones ran big and my green ones run a little tighter. I still love them all, but when I climb in them I'll tend towards my stretchier pair. I have used them for climbing, hiking, beer drinking, couch lounging, and just living life! I'd highly recommend. I'm 5'7" and 140# and wear a size 4 with a belt for added security.

Too Long

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it
Fit:

I really wanted to love these after hearing the big hype about them, but they were extremely long on me. The color was a little off too- I got the dark mud and it was more green than I was expecting. The fit otherwise was spot on, but they were too long for me to wear comfortably.

Really love the Kara jean fit but this particular pant is running large. The sizing of the Kara jean depends on the batch or fabric used so it is a bit inconsistent Didn't feel like returning it because I would have to pay return shipping so I will just use a belt

There seems to be some variation in sizing color by color. I'm a 2 in every color I've bought (e.g. indigo, black, etc) and also in the Prana Halle pants (ALL the colors). Any guidance on some of the seasonal colors? Dark Mauve, Agave, etc? Thank you!

Is the inseam graded as the sizes go up? What is the inseam in a size 12?

Hello Vanessa, These pants are graded for length, a size 12 has a 35 inch inseam. These pant are often worn cuffed on the bottom so you can adjust your length as needed if you wear them that way. Hope this helps.
