Just purchased - already buying pair #2

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: 4

I'm a wildlife biologist who does field work frequently, so I go through hiking pants like candy. I've only owned these pants 3 days, wore them twice, and already know they'll be my favorite. I'm already getting ready to buy them in another color. If you're tired of swishy, shapeless hiking pants - snatch these up. They're made of a lightweight but thicker material than the typical hiking pant that gives them a nice (yet breathable and insanely comfy/stretchy) structure. The cut was designed for women (FINALLY!!) with tapered knees, wide waistband, and flattering stitching on the backside. I do feel like they run a tiny bit large in the waist (nothing a belt or the drawstrings can't fix) and in length: I'm short at 5'2", but I ordered regular length since short length hiking pants tend to come up way too far when I'm sitting down. I regret not ordering these in short length, as the regulars ended up quite long on me and need to be cuffed a few inches.

    Halle, you ma girl!

Halle, whoever you are and wherever you are, thank you! In all honesty, I bought these pants because they're popular here at work and I wanted to fit in. But now I have 2 pairs and I recommend them to everyone. I totally understand why they're so popular! If you don't like jeans because they're uncomfortable but you're over the leggings scene, these are the pants. They're as comfortable as leggings or sweatpants but don't look loungy. I love that they can be worn as full length pants or as capris. I mostly wear them as capris but they're nice to unclip every once in a while when it's chilly or when you're hiking through brush and don't want to tear up your legs. The stretch is really awesome too. I'm a mediocre gym climber if that but they're stretchy enough for me to climb in and you can just wipe the chalk off and go run errands after. The material is seriously amazing. I was sure I stained them and that they're be nasty after a really muddy hike but they wash up just like new. I was hesitant to put them in the dryer but the Prana reps said to dry them every once in awhile to reactivate the DWR treatment. Just try them on, you just gotta.

    Halle, you ma girl!

BEST hiking pant + EXCLUSIVE colors

    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: 2

I originally ordered a 4 in this pant and they felt a little baggy so I exchanged them for a size 2. They tend to stretch out a tad if you forgo washing them for days on end. I wear a size 4 or 28 regularly. I spent a month trekking in Nepal and wore these without washing them for the entire trip and they stretched out in the waist BUT they have a drawstring so it wasn't a problem!

Let me take a minute and tell you about why I LOVE this material. Say goodbye to techy-swishy sounding trekking pants. These pants feel like a hug but are tough enough to withstand a summer of bushwhacking to the tallest peaks. And it stretches! They dry quickly after a rain shower.

Other features I love: side thigh pocket big enough for the iPhone 6s with a lifeproof case on, snaps to hold the pants at capri length, button close back pockets, and articulated knees.

I wear these trekking, climbing, around town, and in the office. I have a 31 inch inseam and the regular fit with my hiking boots and trail running shoes but would be a tad long if I wore flip flops.

10/10 would recommend to a friend.

    Best Pants EVER

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 2 and 4

These are my favorite pants in the entire world. They fit like nothing else. I'm very tall so the fact that they come in a "long" is a dream made manifest into reality. Thank you, Prana! I own two sizes, both which fit. I wear the size 2 (even though this is the only brand I've ever owned a 2 in) for traveling and walking around Europe. The black is dark enough to pretend to be a little bit "dressier." Paired with a walking sandal, I feel like I don't embarrass myself at nice cafes. I like to do strenuous hiking in the size 4. They're looser on me, while still fitting very well. My only quibble with this pant is the drawstring. The string is on the inside of the waistband, so if you draw it tight to keep your pants near to the waist, the button part gaps a little. Still, it's a small issue. The fabric is wonderfully breathable and seems resistant to moisture. I used these pants to hike across Ireland and while they weren't water-proof, I never felt bothered by the rain. Everyone else is making that water-proof pant noise with their thighs, and I'm feeling light and silent. The pants dried in no time at all. I own six pairs.

    Best Pants Ever!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Size Bought: Size 4

I seriously own every color in these pants! I am an avid outdoors gal and I wear these come rain or shine...oh and snow (with a base layer)! I am typically a 6 in normal pants, but wear a 4 in these. They fit perfect! I am 5'9" and get the regular length...I dry them for a 2 minutes and hang dry them thereafter. Of all the pants I have owned, these are the best ever! Comfy and Cute! :)

    Best Pants Ever!

    One pair isn't enough!

There isn't a whole lot to say about these pants that hasn't been said. But here are the top 5 reasons I love them:
    1) As hiking pants, these things can't be beat. They're stretchy and flexible, while still being moisture-wicking, lightweight, and flattering.
    2) I love the option of the roll-up pant leg. At 5'5", the regular (32") inseam is slightly long for me, and unless I'm wearing thick hiking boots with a taller tread, they will drag on the ground just a bit. I love the option to roll them up into longer (mid-calf) capris to avoid this issue.
    3) I love the colors this pant comes in. They're really flattering and versatile (not too bright).
    4) Water resistance! Seriously!? I've worn these paddleboarding, and I'm surprised at how well they keep me dry even when I get splashed.
    5) THEY CAN BE DISGUISED AS WORK PANTS. Oh my gosh, this is one of the best parts. With how comfy and cute they are, I've worn the black and grey/coal versions to work as "slacks"... and no one's the wiser!

They run SLIGHTLY bigger than normal. I wouldn't classify them as "running large", but normally I wear a size 8 in pants, and the size 8 in these fit around the waist but were slightly too baggy in the legs. As you move, because of the flexible fabric, they loosen up a bit, too. So if you're on the fence, I'd go your regular size if you want a looser fit in the legs (and comfortable in the hips), or possibly even a size smaller if you want things to fit a bit more snugly.
These have been through countless hikes, paddle boarding, backpacking trips, and worked their way into my casual wear... there's a reason I have 4 pairs in different colors! :)

    Love these pants

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 16

These pants are perfect. First of all they're some of the only pants I could find in a 16 and they come with a drawstring so keeping them up is no chore. The fabric is quick dry and comfortable with or without an under layer. Definitely worth checking out!

    Best pants ever

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 8 tall

These are the best pants I've ever owned. It's great that this company makes pants that come in a tall size. I plan on wearing them all the time, not just for hiking.

    Great Pants!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: 6 short

Great Pants! Great Fabric! Great style!...consider downsizing one size, runs a bit large and long...I am 5'5" about 130-135 lbs, size 4 short would have been perfect...Nowadays I am size 6, years ago size 8. I really believe they are changing the size of clothing, because my weight and frame have not changed over the years, but the clothing size I buy has??? Go figure? Great pants though, I highly recommend..super comfy for adventure and get many compliments!

    Go To Pants

This was my second pair of Halle pants. I loved my first pair so much, even when I wore them for two weeks straight traveling around New Zealand, I had to get a second pair. They're my go to for backpacking, climbing, or just traveling in general. Love them!

    For sizing, I'm 5'6" and 130ish and wear a size 2 regular - plenty long. (In jeans I normally wear a 4)

    Best pants ever!

These are my second pair. I love them as a change from jeans. I traveled to Italy for 1 month and these were fantastic. I always felt comfortable and well dressed with sneakers or boots. They are so good for traveling because they don't stretch out and don't get dirty. I've told lots of my friends these will be the pants you can always count on to hike, beach, city, whatever! They run long. I'm 5'8" and can wear the short length . I've also perchased the reg. Length they'd be too long with sandals but ok with other shoes. Go for it you won't be disappointed !

    Good stuff.

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size

I bought these for my girlfriend and she loves them. They're light and stretchy, making them great for hiking and climbing, but they have a great casual look so you don't look like you're about to embark on an African safari when you wear them around town. Another nice feature I notice my girlfriend using a lot is the roll-up cuffs. The cuffs roll-up to the mid-calf, so I guess you could call these britches a pant/capri hybrid of sorts.

    SMITTEN!

I've never had a pair of hiking pants that felt like they were MADE for me. Everything else has been a little too wide, a little too short, a little too stuffy, a little too high-waisted. These are flaaaaaawless, and there's some sort of sisterhood of the traveling Halle magic goin' on here, because there are so many other gals with different body types that love them, too. I'm convinced they can make any hikin' lady feel fabulous. The size 4 regular just barely grazed the floor at 5'9" and was a nice, semi-fitted cut on me. I could wear a size 2 tall for a snug, form-fitting look, but I much preferred the 4 regular. These are now my go to climbing, hiking, and travelling pant!

    I've only heard great things

Since I have been working at Backcountry.com I have heard tons of great things about these pants. I figured I would be a good son and get a pair for my mother. She absolutely loves them and wears them all the time. She says that the material is awesome and they are very flexible. She tells me that they run true to size and if you don't have these pants. You should get them!!!

      Awesome Pants

I bought these pants for a camping and climbing trip in Spain. They stood up to multiple days of use without smelling bad or tearing. They look nice enough that I can wear them to work and subsequently not have to change for the climbing gym.

      I am 5'10, 130 lbs. Size 2 fit perfectly.

      Halle Pant

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 6

Intro: I got these pants as a hiking/camping/climbing and have taken them traveling, climbing, and camping for several days.

Fit: I normally wear a size 5-6 in pants (5’5”, 140lbs, athletic build) and size 6 in Prana pants always fit well.

Performance/Use: These pants are super comfortable, stretchy for climbing, and hold up well to multiple days wear. They fit really well and work for everything I want them for. Haven’t put them through the wringer yet, so don't know how well the material will hold up to multiple climbing excursions, rough rock, and abrasions.

      Awesome fit

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 8

I ordered these pants - along with 4 other styles/brands - and they were the clear winner. First hiking pant I've ever come across that looks great and feminine, is super comfortable (soft fabric, perfect amount of stretch), and has all the features I'm looking for in a hiking pant - plenty of pockets, adjustable leg, etc. Liked them so much I bought two colors!

      Best pants I've ever purchased

      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 8- short

I have 5 different pairs of the this style. It can be dressed up or down. I love the versatility of being able to turn them into Caprio. The discrete pocket on the side Is great for important items (i.e. i.d credit cards, etc)

      All around best pant

Love the fit of this pant for climbing, hiking, wearing around town. The fabric stretches as you move and the fit is flattering. This color is specific to backcountry.com so you cannot find it anywhere else if you want a one of a kind pant!
