And out of this cycling hot spot, innovators like Portland Design Works are thriving with thoughtful, quality products like the Full Metal Fender.
Made from anodized aluminum with laser graphics and an embossed badge, the Full Metal fenders distance themselves from flimsy plastic fenders. They offer a full-wrap coverage, including rubber mudflaps to prevent rooster tails from spraying other riders.
The anodized silver finish is a beautiful complement to any high-end road bike. Special hardware helps fit the fenders around caliper brakes and under forks, and add-on mounts allow fitting to bikes that lack eyelets. These measures ensure that the Full Metal fenders will fit just about any road bike.
For safety, release tabs let your wheels keep turning if debris gets lodged between the fender and tire.

Classy and super solid!

These fenders are awesome! The installation takes a little bit of patience, however once they're on, you can just forget about them. I installed mine months ago, and haven't had to do so much as tweak them since - and I put in upwards of 100 miles commuting per week. And to top it off, they look great!

Application: Wet weather fender set for racing/training bikes with 23 mm tires.
PROS: 1. Great quality. Great Design. American company. Made from anodized aluminum (not thermoplastic). 2. Stable fit!!! These mount directly to frame eyelets or to included QR skewer washers. This provides much better mount stability relative to fender sets that affix to the rear stays and the front fork with rubber straps. 3. Good looking! Including the laser etched graphics. 4. These are of course "full" fenders. These will provide the best protection and least spray on riders behind you (and into your shoes/booties from the front tire).
CONS: 1. Requires some time & patience to install properly and the removal of your front & rear brakes (as all full fenders do). Depending, you may want your LBS to perform the install. 2. A lot of riders are using 25 mm tires for riding and training these days. And even 28 mm tires for training on wet and rough roads. PDW says these -may- fit 25 mm tires. Wish they made a size between the Road (23mm) and City (28-38mm) models.
My favorite fender sets made for racing/training bikes are made by Portland Design Works, SKS, and Planet Bike. I won't tell you which to buy -too many variables are involved- it depends on your needs. But PDW's "full metal fenders" are really nice and they work great.
