Bust out the ol' stars and stripes.
When it comes to beating your friends across the lake, you're going to want to slip into your American flag boardies, strap on your knievel helmet, and saddle up your POP Paddleboards Americana Stand-Up Paddleboard. With a hydrodynamic shape that leaves a little more than a stripe of red, white, and blue across the lake, the Americana cruises across open waters thanks to its low rocker profile, squashed tail, and single fin setup that keeps you on track to crush the competition.
POP built the Americana with its Nature Tech vacuum packed construction, which consists of a high-density EPS foam core, layers of fiberglass, and a bamboo veneer that is then placed in a plastic sleeve and vacuum packed to eliminate air between the sandwiched layers. This construction process leaves the board relatively light (just 29lb) and durable enough to handle the occasional scuffle with rocky coasts, the long commute to the lake, and your speed-hungry paddling style of course.

- Q & A
I've gotten into paddleboarding over the past year. So I've tried various boards from friends and have a pretty good feel for the different types. The Americana is one of the smoothest boards I've been on. It's easy to carry and transport for a 12ft. board, which is important for those solo sessions. It glides across the water with ease, unlike some tugboats I've been on and it's extremely stable through wakes or when you jerk your head around to check out the view. Last spring I picked one up before heading to Yosemite Valley and had the pleasure of cruising the frigid Merced where stability mattered. Beyond stoked to have the Americana in my quiver.
Thanks POP and Backcountry!
Fast and fun
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
My husband has a Laird bamboo surf board and we have been "fighting" over the usage...so we finally decided to get a second one, as we really wanted to have fun together. I found the POP SUP online and decided to take a chance. I was nervous because I had high expectations after using my husbands board. Backcountry sent it in great packaging and it arrived in perfect condition! We took the boards out that same evening and we raced with them. It's just as fast as his...I was so happy! I fell in love with the board right away, the colors, the shape, stability and the way it feels standing on it! I have been using it for countless hours all summer, almost every day. The longest journey was 10 miles! It's lightweight to carry with a very convenient handle in the middle which is important for my 120 lb frame. The padding is comfortable to stand on (in the extreme Georgia summer heat it bubbled up in certain spots, but then it goes back to normal). I am overall extremely satisfied with this purchase, and have received compliments about it's looks. Great SUP!
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I would recommend the Americana to everyone. I tried this board for the first time last week at Jordanelle Reservoir and I fell in love the second I pushed off shore. Right from the get-go I notice this board was significantly lighter than mine.
As an Orange County native my life revolves around water sports. I have a 12.6 Sup ATX board that I use 2-3 times a week and it is a workout to get it anywhere because of the weight. This is a very important factor to consider as transportation will be tricky with something of this size.
Regardless of experience or setting(beach, lakes, rivers, etc) this board is perfect for anyone in any condition. The design of the board is that of a cruise liner in that it torpedo's across the water. I was also extremely impressed at how ridged the board was compared to my ATX. The design of the Americana decreases the probability of capsizing where my ATX would roll if a boat went by me or if you shift the slightest bit of weight.
Another winning trait the Americana is how much higher the board sits on the water. The wind was roaring when I took the Americana out but the design didn't make the wind a factor at all. The squash tail is very versatile as it's design offers more control and stability in a variety of settings.
What is the material? New to paddlebaording not familiar with lingo. Thanks
